The weddding was simply brilliant, was intimate, almost a family affair. Well despite the fact 2 billion people world wide and 8000 media watching every single move reporting to all the countries in the Commonwealth of Nations who followed with heartfelt vigour and pride. I know that Princess Diana (may she RIP) would have been very proud of her oldest William and the natural poise of Kate. Oddly enough Prince Harry, well so far, hasn't been been reported drunk as a skunk, although he was up his tricks at the alter. (despite US news lack of understanding in proper protocol, and lack of a lip reader) I think he said .. hey she (Kate) showed up. Heck, I would given a kidney to be at the "after" party and inhaling a few pints with Harry. Double the regulation, and increased provincial registration exam fees, all this with no representation as an advocacy or association for Paramedics. I wonder how many out of the 7500 members will participate this year, maybe 50 if it follows the trend. I know of one Cowboy, long standing participation @ AGMs that has finally recognised the futility of it all and will be watching CPAC (AB legislature) instead, because this is far more influential on the future of EMS in AB than the regulatory body may be today. Council members are being voted on yeah vs neigh (no Bylaws changes proposed, this a true pity). For the one EMR position, the "ONE" single member running is already in by acclimation (from what I gather from the website links) perhaps the future Paramedic College President ? IMHO in a not so perfect world and I agree with dustdevil, for the future and improved delivery of health care and ALL those working in EMS, halt this stepping stone education concept in EMS and put ACP on every truck, and raise the high bar. Unlike what my current provincial government is doing ... and lowering the bar. No other place in medicine are their 5 different levels of education EMR, EMT/PCP, (ICP here is Intermediate) REMT/ACP/ and ICP(NZ)/CCP wearing the same uniform and sharing a similar "title", heck RNs do not ! Its the minimum accepted standars other than care assistants, we have no ER Tecks those are called "porters" in AB. That said: in AB we have Registered Dental Hygienist and Registered Dental Assistants ... personally I have absolutely no idea what the differences in scope when I open my mouth up, although its quite typically full of my own foot ... When you look beyond country borders we are literally shooting ourselves in the foot for any success in organisation in setting up some type of standard of care and recognised scope of practice this is confusing everyone including ourselves. (ps try working for a multinational offshore in remote, austere settings and you will understand EXACTLY what I am saying, its a dogs breakfast of terms, best part is the resumes I see with EMT P (and all the 2 day alphabet courses as "titles" i.e. ALS, ACLS, BTLS, CPR, CCP (from Dog River) or DIPROM that is Diploma of Remote and Offshore Medicine ? wtf over ? Therfore: I wish to introduce the newest "title" ECP Extreme Care Paramedic, its so much more kool and new age.< tongue in cheek> Point being when the government changes legislation for title protection, one is forced to ask WHY ? tniuqs RP ... hey Registered Paramedic just might work EH ?
