Explain to me why I am paying way to much at the pumps affecting the entire economy in North America when there is a war over "bloody oil" when my so called poorly nick named "dirty oil" comes from Alberta and is refined in the US ... ??? Why are WE the pawns paying so much, based on World Wide Multi National Oil artificially inflated prices, my gas and oil does not come from Saudi Arabia ! The agreement on Internal Trade and Mobility of Labour (signed by all the provinces) would disagree with that statement, union membership is NOT legally a requirement to work in BC in any area of government, in fact one could argue in court (and win) that hiring based on union membership is discriminatory. Education, Experience, Merit with Seniority being the last of "conditions" in any Hiring process. Unfortunately at the end of the day if BCAS, Justice Institute and CUPE honestly wish to improve services, logically one would want only the best and most qualified of candidates, agreed is it the way of the world that to have protection (official or not) in place. I don't disagree that this occurs but its not best for ANY system. God knows CUPE and BCAS have had some Epic Fails as of late.

CAN919: You can apply and through BC Licensing and get your card, but realistic access to FT employment from my experience as an ACP is limited by BCAS and moreover CUPE, like climbing a ladder that is sitting in quicksand. I believe a court challenge is needed i.e. the Inter Provincial Labour Mobility Agreement before their is real reciprocity in Canada. As some of you may know my background in provision of ALS and Primary Care to Alberta Sustainable Resource Development AB also known as Wildland or Forest Fire Fighting and attempts at eradication of the Pine Beetle in Canada (BC and AB) has been some of the best times in my life and most challenging times, providing care to the First Nations who are on the front lines in vast majority of situations in campaign type fires. I feel compelled to inform all that there has been the passing of a good hearted man, that, I am proud to say was my friend, we weathered Grizzly Bear attacks in the dead of winter, 40 men trapped in the bush in a 5 ft Blizzard (and recovered them all safe and sound) 250 man camps that got food poisoning, roll over trucks on ice roads (to mention just a few incidents) Al Walker taught Forestry Conservation and Wilderness First Aid at the Northern Institute of Technology Alberta and was highly respected by the "Old School" of hard knocks and hard work, he started his career when Horses and not Helicopters were the primary mode of transportation and without doubt he positively affected the future generations of Forest Rangers / Officers, he was a Master of Survival. One day he paid me one of the BEST Compliments I have ever received in my life, this during an overhead team meeting as he was a horseman and called me "the VET" aka veterinarian ... btw this is was an sincere honour. We met by happen stance while on holidays one year camping and boating in 2007 my Son and Daughter so enjoyed his fun "survival" training, the introduction in how to make a "match heads flare" and much to my dismay for my 13 y/0 son ! and water balloons raiding wars at or camp sites, woke us up at 5 in the blessed am ... just to screw us up. Al Walker (aka Ranger Walker) died of Pancreatic Cancer after surviving "Wipples Procedure" about 9 months ago he was one tough son of a bitch at 76 surviving that surgery. Ok I know I am getting slammed on this one. I read the artical first and then I was just able to watch the video as youtube is banned at work. Now in watching it first of all a terrorist dosn't give a crap about a 6 year old. And whether we like it or no there are sleeper cells in <edit and recruiting> our countries. In watching the video the TSA worker was polite and explained everything she was going to do to the mother and while patting down the child. The child complied and didnt look like she was under any stress, she wasnt crying or fussing in the video at least. When I saw the statement Groping I assumed that it was a male TSA worker and not a female and yes that would have been different I guess. Now the drug test, <snip for brevity> The parents could have said something that was very innocent and were red flagged. RED flag and I was searched, my carry one was torn apart and even my computer was taken away for a bit to be tested for drugs and bomb stuff. I think I look like the person next door but I said something in a stoned up state that cause the flag. Do I like the fact that our world has come to having to search 6 yr olds nope but that is the way it is. If she wasnt checked and was wired for a bomb or was carrying drugs and then it was found out, that TSA worker would be hanged for not searching her. We live in world of uncertainty and a whole lot of bad people so I guess this is the new way of air travel.
