My hope is Harper enough of this crap get back to real work. But ONLY in Canada would they change sheduling for TV, and the "Hockey Game" won out over the Future Leadership of the the True North Strong and Free <sheesh> Watching the debates for Canadian leadership is like listening 3 chihuahua bark at a Bull Mastiff. Now back to Hockey Night in Canada .
  2. As all others agree you get A plus on recruiting and education. Dust wins again going to the sex place before Dwayne .... its not looking good for your rep ! te he. Brings up a good query ... chbare do you not have to sit 8 hours of National Registry exams, as I just don't have the depth in the understanding of the USA system of HCP registration ? cheers
  3. Firemedic65 exactly: Respiratory Therapy is one on the least known of the Health Care Profession's, they are the "Paramedics" IN the Hospital the A part and the B part of ABC. One always hears of the Doctors and the Nurses ... but rarely any other group of dedicated professionals. WELL DONE CHBARE ! With your permission I will advance this you tube link to my College and Association of Respiratory Therapist's of Alberta, Canada and my old alma mata, the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, RT program. I am most certain they will be most appreciative of your efforts to promote and recruit. cheers
  4. Inducing opioid withdraw is just NOT good medical practice bottom line, so the question remains is this addiction or required pain relief ? But: Prescribing cold turkey from locum MD is from and where I sit on the couch, it could fall under negligent medical care and is most certainly a mitigating cause in this patients situation now. Perhaps a decent lawyer and an understanding judge (unfortunately they too become very jaded as soon as they hear the word DRUG) but would not be a bad legal solution and directed towards the MD. The last thing for the patient needs is break and enter narcotics record. I just can't see how that will help the patient to get back on his feet, so to speak. We do know that the oral forms are opioid's are abused and now on the radar screens of the big brother pharmacists busting MDs that were more liberal with pain medications in the past. Unfortunately the only option with present long waiting lists (to resolve the root cause of the pain) perhaps a result of our broken health care system but further complicates the MDs (self preservation) being now more concerned with licensure than best practice. Just my 2 cents this is a direct result of a type of societal mental illness that we suffer from in North America. We punish the the majority not the exceptions, by making even more rules and regulations / restrictions, this proven to be counter productive. So is the frequency of crimes related to narcotics improving or getting worse with this type of regressive type attitude that predominates . cheers ps Is it any wonder why we have such a huge black market in oral narcotics, this example (my bet) is exactly the path this "victim of the system" will follow ... or worse.
  5. Sweet! A shred opportunity of some noob ! ps don't think for a second I will be nice to you ! xxxooo (insert wink)
  6. one word globalmedics ..... BRAVO ! Will be digging a bit deeper now, some of my tax return is headed your way, will not kill me to have a couple meals of KD. cheers and thanks for the heads up doc.
  7. I am disappointed with the news that CMAT and IMAT has pulled the members from Japan, they are just not prepared for nuclear disaster of this magnitude. I am without words to express my feeling's for the Fukushima Fifty, the helicopter water bomber pilots and the fire fighters. They define as I type, the word HEROS. "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few (or the one)" Many think this quote is old and from some famous philosopher. The thought does have its origins in an ancient text, but it wasn't spoken by a great philosopher, and the thought did not originate from a 1982 motion picture, Wrath of Khan. The thought came to us from Caiaphas, the High Priest mentioned in the Gospel of John. In John 11:49-50 the Apostle John wrote, "And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not."
  8. Did they change the rule book for life ? If that offer of 40 acres and a mule is still on the books well count me in too .. PLEASE. Sorry to inform you and if you actually work on a gut wagon, YOU of ALL people should know these facts. 1- LIFE is not FAIR. 2- Pointing fingers and whining because of ancient history does not to work to advocate positive change. Its called the broken record philosophy, it will never make sweet music. 3- No matter how hard you beat a dead horse, it just ain't going to pull that wagon. 4- Yes Sir you fell off your soapbox and you broke your leg, the physics of this is that "gravity sucks". BTW I did not push you, nor did my father or my grandfather, but my white family must be accountable in some way. 4- All white non female, republican huh ? .... ah never mind, Herbie just posted and his thoughts, I echo his position. I enjoyed the math question, here is the answer that I believe you seek as your algebra is directly proportionate to generating friction. ps: apparently you do not own a mirror, so sad for you.
  9. Dear Crotch: I did not read of any slaves denied access to the Daytona Police Dept, just those that scored too low to be considered as a possible candidate's, then whine about the atrocities of the distant past as an excuse, I did not hear of the "other ethnic groups" complaining ? Do you think your accomplishing anything positive "for YOUR people" with your attitude or could your position perpetuate stereotypes of the poor downtrodden black man ? Maybe listen to the words of MJ : Man in the Mirror. Maybe time for YOU to make that change ? edited to "center" the video for equality
  10. Getting back on topic and perspective in this present snapshot in time on the verge of a nuclear melt down and world wide catastrophe . Insert: The Japanese Nuclear Utilities officials have agreed to lower the passing score for the nuclear physicist's exam because not enough "chartreuse people" passed the test. Hiring criteria based on "ethnicity, colour, sex, religion " is not only counter-productive to any society it defines racism. cheers
  11. Doesn't hiring based on ethnicity define racism ?
  12. CMAT ... is already on the Ground. Globalmedics ..... is already on the Ground. DART ahem "director" is needing a hand written origami note from the Japanese Emperor <sheesh> ? Some days you have to just have to wonder .. I hope when DART (the grunts are awesome folks) gets there they will assist the NGOs . Prayer in this case is just NOT ENOUGH, you can't eat or drink a prayer.

  14. CANADIAN MEDICAL ASSISTANCE TEAMS :: www.canadianmedicalteams.org -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- E M E R G E N C Y A L E R T -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Deployment Status and Volunteer Update 3/13/2011 11:41:16 PM: Dear Colleagues, As most of you may be aware a CMAT Rapid Assessment Team departed Vancouver this afternoon bound for Japan. We have been in constant contact with US Military, Japanese and United Nations officials. At this time I must stress that no decision has been made with regards to deployment of additional medical teams. We understand that many of you are eager to assist with this catastrophic disaster and we thank you for your outpouring of support. While we await word from our assessment team there is still plenty you can do to help; 1. We are looking for local Toronto folks who will be available to assist with an inventory of Field Hospital supplies later this week. Valerie Rzepka will be forwarding further details this evening or tomorrow morning, 2. We have launched an urgent appeal for donations to purchase a Nomad Emergency Water purification unit to ship to Japan. http://www.noahwater.com/nomad.html If you are interested in assisting with this effort please and you need more information please let us know, 3. Urge your friends, co-workers and family to visit our website and donate generously. Contact your local service groups and Japanese Community for presentations on the CMAT efforts, 4. If you have any fundraising ideas that you would like to spearhead and require any further details or CMAT support please contact us at appeals@canadianmedicalteams.org If you are a newly registered volunteer please note that you will have received a standard approval and access to the second application package. This does not mean that you have been approved to deploy to Japan, but rather professional information that CMAT is required to keep on file for all future deployments. Emailed electronic copies of application form and required documents is preferred. Please send these to bdemille@canadianmedicalteams.org And finally, due to and extremely high volume of communication, please do not call or email advising us that you are available or interested to deploy until such time that we specifically request volunteers that meet your specific skill set. Do however contact us with ideas you have to help from home here in Canada. In the meantime please follow us on our Website, Facebook and Twitter. If you require urgent assistance please do not hesitate to contact myself bcoltart@canadianmedicalteams.org or Valerie Rzepka vzepka@canadianmedicalteams.org. 15. Have they walked out in fact ? A Strike Vote is means to an end, in most cases a ploy to bring attention to the issue of unfair practices, one cannot blame the economy for a request for fair payment for services rendered, this when an employer refuses to go to the table in good faith. That said: very few actually win anything in a real strike situation. Want something to complain about ... give us a raise to cover gas prices because of a war in Libya when we have safe supplies in NA ? I digress. If you have the majority that support this then is clearly one's right to ask for improvement in conditions and payment for services, just who are we to judge ? I am not an Nurse in this situation and how one can get rilled up over a biased news report is beyond me. The Bigger question is it responsible as Professional's to voice an opinion pro or con ? The essential services that nurses provide on a daily basis is beyond debate. If the RNs wish to strike is it ethical, well good luck with that discussion. Its the responsibility of the Hospital as the Employer to prevent any emergency when it comes to any labour shortage. I wish them good luck in their endeavours.
  16. Quakefire: I like to do this these days (when I have some spare cash) What convinced me when I found out that a gift of money that I donated to Haiti, well I found that the moneys our government "promised" to Haiti, this was a bad faced lie and very little of the moneys have ever reached the very people that need it the most. Don't doubt for a second a SCATHING letter was sent to our government This is one of the reasons I support GlobalMedics, World Visions Canada and CRF now. This documentary that I watched convinced me that the gift of an animal like a goat or chicken can change this world, one bleat or one cluck one fruit tree at a time .. http://wheresmygoat.com/wp/media/
  17. Just a elderly word of advice careful for what you ask for in the humanitarian area, one can get in over their head's in a new york heartbeat. When the shooting starts and machetes are getting waved in the air ... well it puts a different perspective on it. In a natural disaster (anywhere) within a very short time the rule becomes: Might makes anything Right. The trend is smaller teams, back door access as UN and Red Cross/Cresent get's very logistically complex. Global got into Port au Prince way before the US military did, to supply water with their very kool pelican box osmotic filter kits .... but not without risk. cheers ISOS does do international work but don't let the name fool you .. cheers
  18. CMAT http://www.canadianrelief.ca/ attn: Bill Coltart GlobalMedic http://www.globalmedic.ca/ Rahul ... a good man but hes putting on a few extra lbs ..LOL. http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/article/802288--toronto-paramedic-makes-time-magazine-s-most-influential-list Good .. debatable I know six that would dispute that (mostly Americans) Local ... NO US owned, world wide for profit organization, no humanitarian work, Calgary, Philadelphia, Paris, Singapore offices .
  19. Fail on this call ... extremely harsh and judgemental, did the woman suffer, did your care negatively change the outcome or cause more damage ... no that would be stretching it I think. Do you Fail when a patient dies while in your care, when you did everything in the book and then some. You stated that there was no clear indication of fracture upon PE, the patient was in your care for only 10 mins ? The only fail was you listened to partners that did not actually do an examination (if I read this OP correctly) those partners failed, you were influenced because they "supposedly" had more experience, follow your gut instinct its seldom wrong. cheers
  20. As promised I will reciprocate with the predominate ethnic group in my hood. cheers
  21. Richard .. yes I couldn't give credit where credit was due, I coulnt remember who put that up in comments but wise words. Mobey: Correction LAV vs anything else ... good thing they don't let me drive a device that has big ass guns on it .. I could make the world a safer place to drive and eliminate some cell phone text ers that should be "corrected" .... te he j/k. cheers
