  1. Yeah ... what he said .. ! I charge the OP to do the homework with his the local iman .. and do post a couple of paragraph's information. To make it worth his time and effort I will reciprocate and do an exposé on my local predominate culture, that I deal with every day. CHEERS
  2. Debate or Argue ? How history of the American revolution got introduced into this discussion is beyond me, I try to deal in the here and now .. just saying. Oddly the discussion once this poster get involved is this accusatory tenor tone. A counterpoint could be that mutual respect should intelligibly be applied by all "cultures" more of a melting pot but oddly we see one group bending over backwards (perhaps fear of a the term itself used so loosely) and one group capitalizing on this weakness. I will state once again my own personal belief that organized religion(s) are the root of all that is evil, look to the history of the entire world, lets not forget the nazis who were a non religion but organised group. So the USA should modify the rules because one group cannot recognise that a blade is a blade is a blade ? The Scots carry a knife as far as traditional garb is concerned, but that's not acceptable ? Point: Double standards do not make an equal society, or mutual respect. Mercy Killing is not limited to one "religion" it is cultural deal and only directed towards women and where did we go wrong allowing them to vote and have equal rights .. ps discrimination based on sex trumps discrimination based religion well, just in my math books. Dear Richard .. are all your EMT and Paramedic and Chiropractic friends Female ? If you are not offended please allow me to correct: Warlocks is the preferred term, as that is what I was informed and hey, anyone that can put a spell on me I am forced in good conscience, to respect. For your pleasure and entertainment I introduce a supreme raciest Mr. Russell Peters, yet another Canadian Talent that you Americans stole away to call your own. I will never forgive Americans for stealing Gretsky and William Shatner (I am thinking of invading Hollywood to get them back) .. but that's a topic for a later day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmQ_4k4YQ_I&feature=related How to become ... insert word North American.
  3. Agreed ... quoting someone in EMT city ... 4 wheel drive does not mean that you can STOP faster .
  4. I difficult question as most every "real world" MVC are completely different variables. I will disagree with my friend Mobey .. Might makes Right (staying alive) in most situations. The big ass 4 x 4 duelies are more a stable platform to prevent a roll over, then a higher C of G. Once that truck does flip there is a lot more mass = destruction. That said being unrestrained in any motor vehicle the ejection factor is the killer. To answer the quest, there is no magic or easy answer except that defensive driving and good attitude,(don't get angry at the fools) taking rest breaks, and knowing when to get off the roads due to crappy weather and poor visibility. Then there is the "DUI" factor and with estimated 1 in 20 on the road have or are over the limit, this one of the biggest influences to your safety.(that's all times of day)So assume that all are fools and will do something stupid ie expect the unexpected. Best answer for safe travel although a bit hard on fuel ... a LAV ... Light Armoured Vehicle PLUS you can shoot back cheers late edit ... no matter what flavour of vehicle .. the RUBBER on it is a huge factor to maintain control, put the money there instead of some thing for better "performance" .
  5. Ummm ... that is kinda stretching it, I don't think you wish debate that. Ones Ears are far better at that diagnosis. Not really meaning to shred and the red wine did put things out of sequence, but could you expound on that a bit I am not following ? Lasix has it place and really should not have a "drug" reputation persay. Lets not forget that one needs a mean b/p of at least 70 to 80 for whatever dosage of furosemide is needed to make that filter operational. Quoting a MD I worked with a Dr. Marchashamer ... TO PEE IS TO BE. In ICU we called dopamine "poor man's lasix" + inotropic and increases renal perfusion. Did forget that even M/S has minor diuretic renal action useful in LVF. There was another tool in the bag sorry, my bad, I just felt compelled to finish that sentence. Zactly ... not bad for a bucket head medic
  6. Forwarded from a friend ... thought it was worth posting. cheers
  7. Exact same situation here and no not Arab, those pasty white hicks (btw lots of Arabs are of other religions) but we call it Whoop Your Ass in Alberta if you touch my woman inappropriately. The question remains in : If EMS is summoned to give medical care, just exactly what is the expectations and tolerance for the average North American Health Care Provider as kevkie eludes to respect is a 2 way street. If a Muslim individual is so "orthodox" in their view's and unreceptive of the this moral majority. Why are they even a candidate for naturalization / citizenship in their "chosen land". MOST seriously: Honour killing has no place in North American culture, but once again points to some incomparability mixing cultures together. cheers
  8. This assists with the embalming process. Bless you my son my eyes are getting weak and that helps
  9. Come On ... you didn't know that the media would be forced to stop using the phrase. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead . cheers
  10. Shucks thanks for interpreting for me, Zap straps ... what Zap straps ? Yeah still laughing about BCAS flight program the # 9 for the standard medivac cot, that system is so frigen old to be embarrassing ever hear of lifeport ... way easier on the pilots backs Not following on your medivac comment but when there is a spinal its a sandwich of: patient, cotton sheets padding, scoop, onto LSB, all one piece speed clip and or spider when the possibility of tubulance exists .. that pretty much every day. And now back to the golden shower ... oops slipper ... speaking of weird .
  11. Junk same as the Thumper .
  12. A set or 4 of those BCAS type zap straps fell (I like em )into my own kit one day ... funny how that happens eh ? And correct me if I read something wrong because when doing medivacs into and out of BC the "clam shell" term was used I was like wtf ? .. the scoop was a term only used east of the rocky mountains well so I though ? cheers
  13. http://www.cabelas.ca/index.cfm?pageID=71&&section=1184&section2=2003&ID=24421 Does this help ? those are composted of plastic for the overly environmentally sensitive followers in my church that follow the "Gospel According to Saint Bud"
  14. So when doing initial P/E did you manipulate or check any note decrease in ROM ? Have you ever used a stethoscope to listen for crepitus ? And before you ask what am I smoking .. click on the link. http://www.ems1.com/ems-products/EMS-Equipment/articles/592414-Wait-a-Minute-You-Auscultated-What/ btw You did not fracture this head of femur, from history highly likely pathological condition and complication from a fall but this was done way before you booked location. At minimum pad and strap legs together, figure 8 of feet ... maybe I missed that in original post, yes visualize even it they are a religious sect that is predisposed to modesty. cheers
  15. Hey Hey hey I thought this thread was about tolerance and understanding of different cultures, those aforementioned objects are my religious art o facts ... don't be bad mouthing my religion bro. those jumping critters be my pets just like sea monkeys in that beer can. ps you think my avatar is a joke ?
  16. By ACLS definition this is a symptomatic bradycardia ... so why NOT pace ? as CO = rate x stroke volume this patient is hypotensive and it is partially rate related, next query would pacing be positively inotropic as well ? Then when giving Glucagon is there anything else we should be "aware of" or field test ? yup a no brainer for most when we are using glucagon, watching the strips maybe as we could throw lots of other "labs" out of whack too. cheers Good point about irrigation, a bottle or 2 of the black messy stuff + cathartic down an NG will not do anything but good.

    Tourniquets

46 agreed with your post, this also could be compared similar effects observed in suspension trauma. The exact cause is hypothesised. A basic document http://www.stagesafe.co.uk/user_files/Suspension-trauma.pdf There are bedside blood test strips available for Myoglobin that could prove to be very valuable in our future of EMS. But you will find a plethora of first aid courses and over 30 years old condemning Tourniquets. Now with permissive hypo tension in the polytrauma patient the current "trend" so as to not screw up electrolytes and negatively affect clotting factors (ie make pink cool aid) the research I believe is thanks to to IED injuries experience and efficacy of Tourniquets over in the sandbox, we just could be lagging behind in public delivery of care. OK that just straight up hit my funny bone ... so true. I have used T's in Industry for a crushed leg and a de gloving arm injury, after the T was applied and then good dressings I slowly decrease pressure and observe for big leaks .. my plan is not to loose as much of the red stuff .. then I do not need as much as the salty water stuff to make up the difference. ps really wasted posting this ... long day but a worth while thread. cheers
  18. So counter questions in the EMS FIELD one could not assume completely that the this was an OD CCB or BB its could be a symptomatic bradycardia ... so why NOT pace ? If giving Glucagon is there anything else we should be "aware of" or field test ? cheers Bailey B. Glucagon in beta-blocker and calcium channel blocker overdoses: a systematic review. 19. The movie analogy .. no comment except hollywood but the last statement speaks very clearly for itself. Most serious this PC for the plethora of religious denominations / groups / cults (presently minorities) I believe our "tolerance" and fear of offending others sensitivities will change the face of North American Culture, just my 2 cents. Anyone listen to Russell Peters ? Look to what is happening in Europe especially France where the burka has been banned, look to Quebec where the carrying of a Sikh ceremonial "non knife" has been banned in the Legislature .. I mean really rules are rules (they define a nation) why in our counties do we make exceptions to the rules ? Point being if one needs to evaluate a human for medical reasons, yes the psychological well being is important part (although not a lot die because of this ) of the picture but not the meat and potatoes if you follow.

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHOM TO MARRY?? (written by kids and it's the TRUTH) You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming. -- Alan, age 10 No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you're stuck with. -- Kristen, age 10 2. WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED? Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then. -- Camille, age 10 I hope AK doesn't read this he will loose his mind ! 3. HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED? You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids -- Derrick, age 8 4. WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MOM AND DAD HAVE IN COMMON? Both don't want any more kids. -- Lori, age 8 5. WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE? Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough. -- Lynnette, age 8 (Isn't she a treasure) On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date. -- Martin, age 10 6. WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE? When they're rich. -- Pam, age 7 (Love her) The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn't want to mess with that. -- Curt, age 7 The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you should marry them and have kids with them. It's the right thing to do. -- Howard, age 8 7. IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED? It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them. -- Anita, age 9 (Bless you child) 8. HOW WOULD THE WORLD BE DIFFERENT IF PEOPLE DIDN'T GET MARRIED? There sure would be a lot of kids to explain, wouldn't there? -- Kelvin, age 8 And the #1 Favorite is ....... 9. HOW WOULD YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK? Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a dump truck. -- Ricky, age 10
  21. Dude I have cut 3 sets of colours now .. Indian Posse stabbing at a Fire (screw em). H.A no issue at an MBA and Tiny and Grizz bought my partner both dinner in FMM. oh YES they did. Grim Reapers Deadmonton Chapter back in the day (GSW) .. no issue either the cops used it in evidence.
  22. Not trying to be argumentative Dwayne ... But The question was about a female. This is not in the sandbox. ps and sue me too, I use a Blackie Collins "Rescue One" because shears just don't chew off parkas and safety harnesses, BA carriers or bunker gear. Maybe the observers were freaking because they did not want you to circumcise the patient ?

A grade 1 schoolteacher had 26 pupils in her class. She presented each child in her classroom the 1st half of a well-known proverb and asked them to come up with the remainder of the proverb. It's hard to believe the following were actually done by first graders. Their insight may surprise you. While reading, keep in mind that these are first-graders, 6-year-olds, because the last one is a classic! 1. Don't change horses ...... until they stop running. 2. 24. THE BLONDE MORTICIAN A man who'd just died is delivered to a local mortuary wearing an expensive, expertly tailored black suit. The female blonde mortician asks the deceased's wife how she would like the body dressed. She points out that the man does look good in the black suit he is already wearing. The widow, however, says that she always thought her husband looked his best in blue, and that she wants him in a blue suit. She gives the blonde mortician a blank check and says, 'I don't care what it costs, but please have my husband in a blue suit for the viewing.' The woman returns the next day for the wake. To her delight, she finds her husband dressed in a gorgeous blue suit with a subtle chalk stripe; the suit fits him perfectly. She says to the blonde mortician, 'Whatever this cost, I'm very satisfied. You did an excellent job and I'm very grateful. How much did you spend?' To her astonishment, the blonde mortician presents her with the blank check. 'There's no charge,' she says. 'No, really, I must compensate you for the cost of that exquisite blue suit!' she says. 'Honestly, ma'am,' the blonde says, 'it cost nothing. You see, a deceased gentleman of about your husband's size was brought in shortly after you left yesterday, and he was wearing an attractive blue suit. I asked his wife if she minded him going to his grave wearing a black suit instead, and she said it made no difference as long as he looked nice.' 'So I just switched their heads.' ( I BET YOU DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING !!!)
  25. The Arabic word burka / 'برقع' refers to a face cover with eye openings. It does not mean the whole black dress called the abaya. Are you asking what is politically correct if or is there is a tangible reason not to visualize an injury ? For that matter Medically: If it needs to come off to evaluate, then it comes off or would you rather explain to a judge or deal a wrongful death suit instead why you did not "expose" as in all of our training. Use your right hand (PC) as the right is for eating and the left for wiping ones ass in muslumville. It sure would suck to be right brain dominate .. Most realistically, once again in the western world are so bloody concerned with what is politically correct to the point of impairing our logic. I believe the entire concept is degrading to women and and means of control, in North America culture (Yes an open society) attempts to de-humanize is unacceptable but once again our western values Christian values are discarded like trash. cheers From the infidel
