  1. Bhwaahaaa Haaa ! Love it ! oysters she already has lots ! Well I guess I am of a different perspective, on one Industrial Standby job I advocated this ICE and its in my smart phone and unprotected, not for so much for emergency contacts but to put medications, OTC and herbal, allergies, blood type (if they knew it) PMHX and if they are "parts" donors and signed card as that would be very helpful in an emergency. One JW put "no blood products" in his and he was all happy about that .. I digress. Contacting family is not my prime directive either that the LEO's job. In our hood on Industrial sites the safety types and SOP "suggested" we hand out a form on a piece of paper asking for information "voluntary" concerning health care and contacts "all private" in a locked file cabinet in the clinic .. yea ok that's a great idea. Well I was complying and after the first 1200 workers no one had any medical problem .... weird EH ? So I implemented this ICE and a far better answer to the employers idea, besides having someone to go and look in a file cabinet when the man is down is a waste of freaken time when its locked btw this IS common practice in industry in AB and BC and NWT. When you live in a world where the medical professionals can't be trusted with a patients smart phone OR Medical Providers are afraid to look, what kind of a world are we living in ? Sure there could be private info but unless your a pro hacker you can't access banking or the like, and what's all secret private about twitter or face-book ? Not that I subscribe to that stuff. Really like what's the difference really, going through someone's wallet, and Ruffems your assuming that all patients are male) as purse can be very personal (or a weapon ouch an oops ) or a backpack. Looking for ICE on a phone, quite seriously can anyone differentiate the 2 ? implied consent is implied consent the need for information with someone that cannot speak for themselves is essential. I guess I look at it this way ... if it were ME or my Kids ... have at it. cheers
  2. LS: I don't fit in the little check boxes (yeah no surprise eh ) I use GPS on the ocean, hiking, back country and at work when on Forest Fires or in the Oil-patch to establish accurate LZ. To the corner store ? nope, to find my way in a city that I am not familiar , I use a map. cheers
  3. Sweeet ! Unopposed free speech, my life is now complete and my work is done. I do suffer fools poorly, agreed am incapable of discussing important issues and everyone knows that, did they forget that I WAS the village idiots helper in a former life. Thanks paramedicmike: apparently my hidden messages worked out nicely and titrated and to positive effect as above quote indicate's. I do appreciate that someone was actually smart enough to pick that up, recognizing that a sudden change in tenor is very atypical of me, you must be a fan did you want my autograph ...only 10 bucks USD. YES I am akin to a Bull Mastiff when one desecrates MY most holy of days, I guess those that are not patriotic missed my entire post on Remembrance day 11/11/11. I thought I was pretty fucken clear, then I get a link to this argument for argument sake and just who is behind the verbal Diarrhea again yup the repeat offender quoting law and not one thing to do with medicine, no shock an awe here in the slightest. In my religion it is a sin not defend the honour of my ancestors. paramedicmike: Could you be a bit clearer, you disagreed that they "allowed" the boneheads to protest ? Please explain I am confused ? How would the Bobbys know what would be chanted over amplifying devices beforhand ? I sure wish I had your strength, in your story with protesters in front of you and did nothing about your right to free speech, I have another name for that and it is not tolerance. Question: Were the protesters in your event screaming "American Soldiers burn in hell," and held signs saying, "Islam will dominate" and, "Our dead are in paradise, your dead are in hell." Oddly still no hypothetical answer to my query as to what would have happened if this protest was held at the Arlington Cemetery on Remembrance Day <cough> gimme a break ... get real. "British soldiers burn in hell," and held signs saying, "Islam will dominate" and, "Our dead are in paradise, your dead are in hell." Yet you attempt to reprimand myself with directed comments and intended to shame me in some way because of F.O. YOU CLOWN but this was offensive to You ? Perhaps instead you should use your powers of moderation and BAN me from this site, I did break the rules visibly, well wait NO in fact paramedicmike YOU disclosed this. On another note and if you would be so kind: Here is a communication from a friend in the sandbox that monitors this site regularly, he has asked me share his views, because he is not permitted to comment directly while he is in-country. Please note well these are not my words I have been requested to forward them out of respect for my friend freedom of speech only minutes ago . cheers
  4. Well with that point you WIN the debate hands down it is acceptable to protest in this manner. (see video again) I have now saved it to my desk top in my "freedom of speech file" and I will set up a Power Point Production for next years Remembrance day presentation in my home town, to demonstrate why the US, CAN, BRIT, OZ, and NZ troops died for "freedom of speech" Yes JPINFV your absolutely correct in everything you have written and I must agree with point you have made, I bow to your superior knowledge, your understanding of the ramifications of global politics and interpreting the Laws of many lands for the readership. Will you ever forgive me ? FUCK OFF YOU CLOWN !
  5. Salient Point MIKE you be the judge. Quote from original post: A group that calls itself Muslims Against Crusades chanted, "British soldiers burn in hell," and held signs saying, "Islam will dominate" and, "Our dead are in paradise, your dead are in hell." Please Note: British Soldiers are ordered to defend the country by their Government, logically disrespecting the Troops is contempt of the Government. http://loganswarning.com/2010/11/13/uk-muslims-against-crusades-hate-filled-video/ Perhaps this video link will put things in better "light" Try that at Arlington cemetery, or the Tomb of the unknown soldier or in my Royal Canadian Legion on Remembrance day, Yes, there would be 2 minutes of silence and then it would get REALLY F**KING LOUD ! I think the Brits showed tremendous restraint. So that JP liberal can educate himself in another country's laws, the BNA act preceded the: NEED I POST ANY MORE ?Am I a criminal for posting my opinions on a private owed web forum site ... well there is more to that too
  6. Serve and Protect is wrong ? I here I thought protecting the weak minded is the Bobbies job, could they be actually preventing someone from getting dead, ever been to a football game Manchester United ? btw RCMP motto is "We Always get our Man" with hooligans burning stuff at the last G20 summit protesting with fire you think those people are still walking around today ... LOL. Please explain TORT Law in the BNA act and if and how it applies in this case? Yes and No ... I live in a province of "red necks" that's oil, gas, cattle, grain and we can vote and change the laws and by the majority by doing just that, because my forefathers laid down their lives. Care to visit in my province with your "freedom of speech" supporting "Muslims against the Crusades" and burning of the symbol that honours the lost on remembrance day ? ... I would be most pleased to arrange a conference in the local Hockey area, conference, perhaps we could have the local Fire Dept. btw they were "called out and responded during the ceremonies" maybe to be security ? I would also invite annie, mobey, and rock_shoes, happiness and host of other uneducated Albertasuris red neck vigilante type's on this website a meet and greet ... do you drink beers ? Perhaps I won that point ? You took the silly internet law out of context and I hereby charge you with "out of context" it is a punishable offence here, you will have to write 100 lines. So its acceptable to support a radical Muslim group's rights voicing their opinion to destroy western culture .. but (ME an da bouys, drinken beers EH) to voice our opinion and lay an education on them and a hearty welcome is not in my rights to free speech nor the opinion "You have every right to go back to whenever you came is wrong" sounds like a double standard to me. Hey us RED NECKS got rights too Eh ? So I win ? cheers
  7. Ok question in clarification: I like the look of this kit btw thanks. Do you combine ALS with BLS put a tank in that puppy, as I think you would just have enough room for Airway stuff only. How do you pack your O2 (separately) if you did this looks like a nice pack / bag. Due to infection control issues, radical temp changes and "ruggedness" thrown around a lot. I have moved to a "Pelican" EMS 1550 for medications bag clinic and OTC meds the only down side no back pack able ... that's what I have First Aiders for .... http://www.thepelicanstore.com/Pelican-1550-EMS-Case-1044.aspx I have a separate pack for Airway / Bleeding /Breathing / O2 "very similar" to the Stomp II from Blackhawk but from a personal friend that builds "Zulu 9" one can modify the guts of the pack the link it to the same bag but mine is SAR orange ... and yea he needs to do a lot of work on his website. http://www.dropzonetactical.com/backpacks/assaultpack.html http://www.blackhawk.com/product/STOMP-II-Medical-Pack,876,1371.htm There is a good thread on this in other area's than equipment forum. http://www.emtcity.com/index.php/topic/5508-behold-my-badass-combat-pack/page__p__77195__hl__%2Bmy+%2Bbad+%2Bass+%2Bcombat+%2Bkit__fromsearch__1#entry77195 cheers
  8. Quote from ORIGINAL reports: Police told the Daily Mail three men were arrested - two for public order offences and one for assaulting an officer. Apparently the bobbies / coppers did, it appears you WIN in failing to read the entire post, one does not have to break a law to be arrested just accused. As stated prior its a very good thing for this protest group that did not occur in my home town, likely the police would NOT have been called, but in the UK apparently intervening to prevent "mob rule" and one of my most favourable hobbies (only exceeding my pleasure on as is part time axe murderer a bit) see avatar. Good Point ! but for clarity again its a very good thing for this protest did not occur in my home town police would NOT have been called, small town, no media, no anonymity, lots of "rednecks" (of which this is a compliment by the way, where I live) just saying. I wonder if this "protest" occurred at the Arlington Cemetery if we would not be watching on CNN and in passing applauding the actions of patriotic Americans supported by patriotic Canadians ? Or you would ever dare post your "interpretation" Agreed you WIN in memetics and now my personal use of medications called emetics, that said: Firstly this Godwin pseudo Internet Law, and this a humorous observation made by Mike Godwin in 1989 which has become an Internet adage. I find no humour in your comments or incorrectly applied personal interpretation of US Law in the slightest, but you do fail for applied logic or sensitivity. Quote: Godwin's law does not claim to articulate a fallacy; it is instead framed as a memetic tool to reduce the incidence of inappropriate hyperbolic comparisons. "Although deliberately framed as if it were a law of nature or of mathematics, its purpose has always been rhetorical and pedagogical: I wanted folks who glibly compared someone else to Hitler or to Nazis to think a bit harder about the Holocaust," Godwin has written. Perhaps you missed the point of Godwin ? I did not compare glibly to someone else Hitler or the Nazis I was saying without the very war heroes and members of my Family that died for YOUR freedom of speech and YOUR rights (which in my opinion you now are now worthy as you do not understand the intent of law) My comments in comparing languages is called "situational irony" as YOU WOULD be speaking a different language, saluting in a different manner (of which you must have spent hours to locate on line) by the "rare chance" that you did not fit into groups acceptable by those defeated groups your family and even yourself would not have come to be ? I so am thankful that Churchill and Franklin Delano Roosevelt shared the same language and ideals. http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/fdrpearlharbor.htm But YES you WIN for the first time in the history of EMT City my nomination for hijacking a thread with the entire intend of disrespecting Canadian's, you WIN in putting your spin to with entire intent to distract and generate foolish controversy for your own twisted entertainment value. So you WIN for applied rhetoric in your attempts to convince in anyway that this EXTREMIST MUSLIM GROUP has any validity in their protest, but by continuing your nonsensical "Freedom of Speech" argumentative position you could yourself be accused of promoting hatred, you should be cognitive that any commentary will be opposed vehemently. Wrong is Wrong as was as I pointed out that burning the Koran generated an international incident outcry by Muslims world wide ... Do we as Canadians or Brits condemn all of them to death to burn a symbol of respect and Remembrance (see rock_shoes "comments). You WIN for knowledgeable of geography so did this event did not take place on Canadian soil perhaps I am confused or thought that this protest occurred in HYDE PARK UK ? It happened in SEE LINK and right close to Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site WOW Thanks for the correction. http://maps.google.ca/?utm_campaign=en&utm_source=en-ha-na-ca-bk-gm&utm_medium=ha&utm_term=google%20map Yes you WIN for applying American Law to a Commonwealth and a Monarchy, or are you perhaps you are attempting to perpetuating the stereotypical ugly American concept ? Apologies to my American Friends and no slight intended, to those who I value their friendship and those I DO highly respect on this site. cheers late entry crotchitymedic1986 " The new runner up of the I haven't got a clue about geography, failing to reading OP, and believing that "First Amendment Right's" are applicable in any other country, perhaps with intent of further provocation and promoting hatred ?" brb Looking for a RAP song to link too ...
  9. Legal ? ok huh ? Oh .. so your agree that this is an unacceptable practice and disrespectful to others but continue your rhetoric ? Do you have a mirror to look into ? The term morality comes to MY mind as does the term moronic, just saying. I highly suspect if you were speaking in the Emperors Japanese or the Nazi dialect of German right now you would be far more cautious in choosing your words. cheers
  10. SIR ... YES SIR ! Good to see your alive and challenging residents er kick butts. Just give me about a week to watch all the vids looks like all good stuff from quick looky see. The Swamp Donkey.
  11. Ok late entry .. I checked out the link X collar (the better mouse trap).. got distracted and did not read Freds post. I am saying the same thing I guess NOTE To SELF read the entire thread before hitting reply. LOL ... I will take a stab at that, provide evidence to the opposite ps no one can its a catch 22. Just me if I had neck pain post "incident" I would want a KED or OSS device its just logical, far superior control of C spine . And back at you, can any "prove" study wise if a LSB actually has any EBM studies that: 1. they provide any degree of true immobilization 2. they provide any benefit to the pt cheers
  12. Hmm ok ... Firstly and no not way smart I can't balance my check book and thank you for on link banking ! A USB port well more like 2 Timmys used LDD cups and a string. BTW I had my personal brain hard drive cleaned, shaved, rebooted, virus scanned, malware removed only cost $500. What a deal ..... Oh look something shiny, so what were we talking aboot ? Well I will give a to Ruff very well done and great find, my only complaint the ODC (O2 disassociation curve) one on this link only explains shift lots better on line to goggle. Thats ODC not OCD ... brb have to go wash my hands again. There is a simple memorization trick (shift) to this and if I am begged I will try to reproduce it, fact is that delivery to the tissues with O2 is better measured by SPO2 as opposed to SaO2 the latter is a calculated based on lots of crap.... but very important when one gets into the ICU and Swan level stuff... thing boils down to can you affect ODC shift ... well not really a lot in the field. So when evaluating any ABG result. 1- look at O2 (lets call that the respiration / oxygenation part) 2- look at PaCO2 and PH together and interaction (lets call that the (ventilation part). The complexity of interpreting ABG is always been a concern from a teaching point of view as it is multi factorial interactions and historically mystified, there are numerous ways of going about teaching this topic. Personally I had a hard time with maths in school, my instructors would look at me in Lung School because they WERE friken dang smart like doctorates in chemistry and they just couldn't understand why I could not pick up what they were laying down. Being a overbearing verbal interactive learner was a challenge to the "Brainiacks " This is why I can now teach it now just a few principles and away you go. That said ABG interpretation and interaction, when Ventilators is involved a whole diff ball 'O' ear wax. (can I say wax here ?) annie your sooo bad and you stared this I am sooo shocked ! < insert smiley with halo) So What do you Have ... Where do you need to GO ? I would add to this most excellent find but the Bicarb values are not actually "measured" values, the plastic brain (ABG machine) well the modern ones do that, in old days we had to calculate with special slide rules now it does the calculation for you, WHEW ! Honestly I rarely look at BiCarb, except in base deficit and when VENTILATOR adjustments can not achieve a non life threatening disorder correction in PH with Bicarb drips and very rarely used "acidic type drips" btw metabolic alkalosis is rare as hens teeth ie pick "C" drugs (so the Guessing game just got way easier on the multiple guess exams) does BiCarb it help in interpretation maybe for some but understanding the weak buffer base balance and direct relashonship between PaCO2 and PH is far better and easier in the long run, Carbonic acid and H20. About Time we had an ABG thread. cheers to be continued but jeepluv77 says I am way too long winded .......
  13. btw your friends in the larger landmass just to the North of USA ... yup the Euro-Canadians agree we too are fed up ... but polite enough to be crushed my minority rights. Query: so when does 2 wrongs make a right ? Time for equality, history is history why punish one group because our fore fathers were screwed up ... so do we punish daily the Germans because of the Nazis, do we PC punish the OZ because the abos in OZ were mistreated 50 years ago, do we punish the "taxpayers" in Kanukistan because we interned the Japanese Canadians in the 50s ? Do we punish financially the Euro-Canadians because first nations or our forefathers and religious groups that put them into residential schools suffered .. WHEN does the "BLAME WHITEY the CRACKER STOP ? I personally read about this in history books but why because I am White European descent and a short dick ...( opps outside voice again) yet I am persecuted because of my ancestors governments inequalities ... ? So Lets get realistic, Dogs are smarter than stupid Humans because they live in the NOW. Then again maybe Archie Bunker was right ... Polish aka " all Polocks" are stupid" cheers

My GrandFather lost an eye, after WW1 Fort Gary Cavalry yes horses that one he used to give ice cream to and was stamping feet If the horse did not get a ice cream too ... Funny how that sticks in your head EH ? My Grand Father was mustard "gased" in WW1 the Somme in the trenches and became a POW in France. ONE German was very kind to him and as a result my Uncle was named after him, after my uncles death guess just guess at who got the handle ? laughing ..... I have yet to live up to that name. My Grandfather wanted to go back and kill the Nazis in WW2 but sent his Son in a Mosquito Fighter night bomber because he himself My Grand Father was deemed unfit (one eye)now after losing his Son. He sent my Mother his daughter as a nurse to Korean (the forgotten war) as a MASH type RN CAF RCAMC in Japan with the Brits and the Yanks ... if asked I will tell a story that will rip your very heart out than my Mother told me on her death Bed 2 years ago about the YANKS and how awesome they treated Canadians ! OMG my Dear Friend LS who has helped me through times of personal trial, I did not know that you served, please forgive me Bret I should have known with your strength and determination of military training I guess I am a fool. But since we are on the topic .... Lets not forget the Civilian Contract Medics that serve and die, but brought home in a jar, no pomp, no prestige, no glory and very little recognition Close Protection Support Medics, like Blackwatch, KBR, Triple Canopy so hats off Brother's. cheers
  17. My own words would just seem so grossly inadequate, I hope these words would be more fitting ~Author Unknown~ maybe even help in the days to come, a poem in support of your family is my most sincerest prayer. Herbie: I and am very pleased that you would honour we as an EMT City brotherhood and share your pain, I know we ALL support you in this I have already said a prayer to my Great Spirit and my Guide. I most sincerely weep unmanly tears, but I am now making a toast to yet another fallen HERO. I now lift my glass ... it is time for final inspection SIR !

As most of the frequent flyers around here I have a very long military family history, for that matter my last years post concerning the most holy of days 11 day/11 month/11 hour was a message to my children. It's the Military, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press. It's the Military, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It's the Military, not the politicians that ensures our right to life, liberty or freedom to practice any religion of our choosing. It's the Military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag. This year I received a story that I would like to share from a friend who served as a Physicians Assistant in Canadian Armed Forces for 20 years this is what she replied to my email in red above and red for good reason. Within minutes of receiving PA CAF email and now feeling very, very angry and crushed that some one would even say this to a Veteran, thinking to myself IS that this attitude taught in the schools ? I believe in Karma next click of "send receive" my little sister an ex RCMP sent me this story do I have to say I forwared this story to my friend and now all friends of EMT City. http://www.snopes.com/glurge/nodesks.asp TRUE.
  19. Dont know how you did that thats NOT what I stated at all that was someone else . Agreed with Dwayne this editor sometimes sucks. What I did say WAS : Back to sand bags OK ... So do this simple test Go "Find a 10 lb sand bag" put it on your chest (no pain, no injury) and breath on your back for 15 minute's, then go watch TV ... just what will this do to WOB work of breathing (if spontaneously) then YOU tell me what YOU think ... ps if any MD asks why you did NOT use a Sandbag on a FLAIL ... ask him to do the same "test" Richard see where I going with this ??? even Old Med Directors can be trained to do new "tricks"
