  1. Thank you for your interest's in my sleeping habits, I sleep soundly Thank You very much for your interest. So: iMac what year was that that you refer to ? I highly suspect you were in elementry school when that NS thing occured ? DO the initials G. B. have any significance ? OR were you too influenced by the huge marketing machine OR have you do you have inside information that should be like to be shared ? cheers
  2. DUDE use search Hypothermia IV, CAF cold water Immersion . Rid Rider 911 ... IV fluids ... quite intersting, perf IVs and Heating are a waste of time and effort.
  3. http://www.narescue.com/NARP-Hypothermia-P...MK-P73C132.aspx I have 2 in my Truck, one in my SKED. cheers
  4. To answer your query, an approved "MOT" ministry of Transport has many criteria as you have pointed out I suspect more strict in Canada. Logistics for querys A and B ... to put it into perspective in an area as large as Alberta ... google it, we have I believe only about 8 Real Trauma centers most centrally located. hope that helps.
  5. Mobey ... exactly the point in fact ! I dare say that Bledsoe would agree with you as well, many needless trips by helo when fixed wing is by far a lower risk assessment to all, besides, I bet in your area you can make quite a few kms in the same time that a central dispatched Helo just to lift off and respond. I am hopeful, but wary of any government moves in the new (improved ground system proposed) in that regard, that being upgrading more rural services to the ALS level. The current funding "municipal formula" STARS in fact takes vital cash strapped rural operators of the ground revinue .... fingers are crossed that a newer better model for delivery of services for all in our hood. Sorry to the OP and stray off topic a tad ... I suspect its the same situation in many places in the US. cheers
  6. The helicopter is just a mode of travel .... like a broomstick for a witch, point being that rotary are limited to VFR in the majority of cases, icing conditions, +++ .... but since we are on the topic what does annoy me is STARS smoke and mirrors in marketing with this operation has done to convince the public that it is the only show, typically IMac continues to promote shamlessly without consideration for the other fine operations, and mostly based out of ignorance. The arrogance to believe that at the sweep of a broom another Helicopter Company could step in .... YES Really, its happening with ground ambulance IMac! And since when did STARS use EMTs on board to start with anyways? We know your rank IMac, But hey STARS carry great teams typically Paramedic and RN, (some close personal friends) sometimes specialty teams, again its a means of transporting a Team to the patient ONLY. Patient familys certianly are not impressed when the flying blood clot does land in THEIR front yard ... hey maybe every farmer in the province need a STARS registry site like every industrial site has in the province with a false promise ..... tell me it isnt so, try explaining that to the next family in rural Alberta when they have a Calander on their fridge ... it just generates animosity with the rural EMS providers. The real truth is STARS has only 2 Alta Health sanctioned "Bases" they run out of GP without even a chopper pad @ the QE2 Hospital and then ground them into hospital from the airport, about 20 minutes, the prior GPREMS used Canadian Helicopters for 15 years and did a wonderful job. Peregrine helos works in Hinton a 206 Longranger. Phoenix helos in Ft. MacMurray operates a Twinstar. Delta is used out of High Level, last I heard. Yellowhead Helos is the "REAL" rescue Helo in Jasper and Banff ... Parks Canada wants to use STARS for target practice and they do have a 105 mm recoilless ... I know I used to fire it ! There is a helo out of Lethbridge, can't remeber who operates it. So sure use a rotary when you need one, assess the risk factors and possible delays but fixed wing in this "hood" is usually twice as fast to the patient in a range of over 200 knots .... want the math, no worries I have done it over and over. And over my dead body will STARS get anywhere near a ASRD fire (CARs controlled Airspace) when I have a minimum of 4 medium lift birds, like what would be the point of that ... bring a bird in from hundreds of miles away .... because its Red and operates as a so called non-profit organzation ? sheesh. Looking forward to Arctikat .... research on the real regs ... honestly this is why there are so many crashes in the US ... its a competition for buisness ONLY, and Bledsoe agrees, I did chat with him on this very subject hes of the opinion that the old experianced Vietnam Pilots are now all retiring and low time pilots with attitude are a huge issue, mission informed vs non informed a factor too. But Once again IMac is promoting something she really knows nothing, embarassing the rest of us that also proudly represent the Canadian Flag, the snotty comment's about "change" is typical of IMac. So this year at Christmas (or any time of the year) when you want to donate any money to a honest non-profit operation, think Salvation Army, think United Way, think Catholic Family services ... they need those limited funds more than a slick calander salesperson at the door telling you that STARS SAVES Lives, its the whole team "from start first responder all the way to discharge from hospital ... THATS the TEAM that saves LIVES the ENTIRE TEAM. BTW the calander is not recyclable. cheers ps STARS got booted out of NS back in the day ... good for NS I say, Ontario and NS governments pay for those birds ... not door knockers like vacume sales folks or begging for handouts from the oil industry ... apologies in advance to the vacume salespersons.
  7. Your right Pigs have rights too. Bacon comes to mind. cheers Dust.
  8. Ok well while we are on the topic: Screw sex it has NO bearing in EMS. Wanted alien EMS life form. No sleep required for optimal performance. 3 hands needed. 3 eyes (one in the back of head) Non judgmental and lack of any sex ... bang em all. cheers
  9. I wish I could claim that quote: its not my origional work it does reflect and quite seriously, on the state of affairs in Canada in fact with hiring based on past discrimination against women. ALL things being equal, like experiance, merit, education then the position shall go to the visable minority .. thats in many government labour regulations ... I had applied for a position BUT I did not get the position because I did not "fit" in funny thing the shiny new Female Paramedic with a whole 6 months on Car (and very good looking too) got hired ... talk about discrimination against experianced medics, it goes both ways. Two Wrongs do not make a Right.
  10. Designated Alberta Air Ambulance Rotary is Twin engined, Twin pilots (IFR regs) night vision Googles for remote night landings, Alberta land mass is at least twice the size of texas, we have 3 flying blood clots only. Honestly there is just no where near the number of rotary flights ... there pretty much useless with the distances, the huge majority here is fixed wing . Proof positive that there is no such thing as the GOLDEN HOUR and no competition for the call ... thats the problem .... yall. cheers
  11. Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.. That said I have worked with 2 types of the non male homo sapien. 1- I can be just as good as any male EMT/Paramedic. meh. 2- I want to be the best Paramedic,/EMT/RN/MD as I can be. Oh one additional comment, I have done some of my best work while being supervised and working under Women. cheers
  12. That bugger Rocco moved up to canukistan ... and he worked on my truck too ... if I ever ...
  13. Well that really explains a lot about Lawyers
  14. How do you say "shrinkage" in Latin ?
  15. Very happy that you talked to the MD but if this is standard treatment ... honestly get out of there your work enviroment has been poisioned by snakes. Many good services will appreciate your sincere vigour and intellegence ..... just as WE do here in EMT city ! Kaisu listen to us, akroeze, reaper, terri, eyedawn, sirduke and myself please take the advice. They are NOT worth your efforts. cheers and if you need a break PM me too ! LOTS of Greener Pastures it not simply not worth the fight
  16. Well Go ask the MD then ? HIS ER does he own it ? So why is he talking with your partner concerning YOU, thats very under handed and VERY unprofessional. What the problem is here is a lack of MD balls or he is playing some form of game, that you have no knowledge about ..... He is going to yank Medical Direction instead of educate .... kinda tells a story to me. Lots of good medical Directors out in the ER world, he is the one that sucks, got to agree with sirduke. cheers
  17. How can a simple question like: Hey: Do you need education on personal safety for your industry. OR how much off IF you bring your own BED ? OK I'm Bad  cheers
  18. first off, maybe look at the flags. apples and obamas
  19. Therfore its acceptable for large corporations to potentially spy on an organization trying to improve standards for its workers .... and thats acceptable behaviour .... hmm smacks of something else to me, rights to privacy would be top on my list. A historical note, but didn't Nixon do something like this, just wondering. cheers
  20. That happened back in the day with Edmonton Ambulance Authority, not many managers left to tell the story. And some dumb ass (in management) got taped sucking back Entonox looser. AMR gate ? cheers
  21. So Frank Burns Like and funny too, your living the dream Run back to the gut wagon for an 02 wrench? or a real knife to cut through motorcycle body armour ... try the Rescue One by Meyerco 3.0 inch blade, in the link the blade is 4 +, I don't need one that long and for a non threating blade locking "blunt tip for prying" (try that with scissors with rings stuck in the floor of a helo at a fire and just defensive wounds if your dumb enough to get disarmed also has a slot that does not damage the O2 stem, a tungston tip fer windows that one needs to open in a pinch, one hand opening and serrated edge works proximal well as a cut knife. http://www.knifepros.com/html/meyerco/mrescueone.htm ps Frank Burns I am telling your mommy that your running with scissors LMFAO>
  22. Just a guess Piles ?
  23. NOT a HOPE its a keeper !
