  1. I've had kodiaks, too warm, too soft of a sole.... I've had Rockies, my fav's so far! Identical to Danners, lightweight, comfy, but no steel toes!! I currently wear RedWings, good boots, need the custom insoles though, that made all the difference! Now, I also agree, boots for ankle support, keep my feet dry/clean, no blood/puke/urine on my ankles, and I think boots look good! Dustdevil, you're getting wierder every post I read of yours....maybe you just always do your own thing?
  2. We are allowed to search all individuals, after all its our safety....its at our discretion, but I've had pockets emptied, book bags emptied, you name it, if the situation warrants.....I'm a little concerned when the medics missed it, thats their job to assess....they obviously shit the bed there...
  3. Do you actually get stressed? I've found myself to never be more relaxed....its not my emergency, right?
  4. Ours are pretty lame.....Soft restraints (triangulars, or we also have commercial posy/velcro-canvas restraints on all stretchers), spit hood, Haldol IM (in absense of contraindications), Versed IM/IV......we also have liberal prehospital self defense training, so we can use all human submission techniques too....It was much better when we used to be able to mix droperidol/versed, but some genius decided drop&drool kills....
  5. First step in conflict resolution is to always discuss the concern with the parties involved....You'll earn respect that way. If you just go straight to management, you'll never be seen in the same light again by your co-workers. I know, its wrong to have/consume ETOH while on duty, they do too, just go through the right steps first.
  6. No arming in Calgary either.....I agree it should be done, being the only unarmed member in a hostile situation could be trouble....but theres alotta firepower in the team too...
  7. From Calgary, work for Calgary EMS, Paramedic....and I wear dark colours thank you....with reflective patches no less.....no whites here!!
