  1. Well good luck with the rest of school, and get back to your workouts!
  2. You could give it a shot, they have both taken years of martial arts, their mom wanted them to do dance or cheerleading, but they prefer to break stuff and hurt things.....Strange girls I tell you.
  3. If your in medic school and all you have time to read is school stuff you need to manage your time better. I'm all for dedication to school work, but give yourself a break, read something mindless, go fishing, beat your kids, something.
  4. Yeah well will they come to the firehouse and teach you in the station?
  5. Maybe another city would welcome you guys? All I know is Gulianni screwed you guys good in the merger, the only solice is he'll be sitting at home watching the election like the rest of us
  6. What they said^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  7. You leave the monitor in the truck, but take first line drugs with you? What happens when you're in a high rise housing project without your monitor and end up with an arrest?
  8. I haven't looked at JEMS in years, would love to hear it has improved seeing as it couldn't get much worse, IMHO.
  9. All cities are not created equal. If thats the order of business in the city of brotherly love, so be it, but I assure you its not the case here, and hopefully not the case in most places.
  10. No reason whatsoever you can't continue working in the field.
  11. I would think you might get more info regarding suspension injuries by researching tree stand falls with harness, or parachute injuries...falling off wind turbines is probably a very rare event.
  12. Hell, around here the grandparents recently graduated themselves, they could have great, great grandparent day!
  13. Northeastern Universities program is pricey, but sometimes you get what you pay for. The other program with an A&P prereq is Boston EMS paramedic program. Its two years and in-house for BEMS EMT's, but may be opening up for outside candidates, you could always give their training department a call, 617-343-1125. Good luck.
  14. If you were on a panel to discuss how best to "fix" DCFD EMS, and your recomendations were ignored, would you show up giving the impression you agreed with the findings? I wouldn't either.
  15. Its a North American Pottamus.
  16. Exactly, what you do in NYC. Imagine them telling the guys on the engine co. to go sit somewere on Flatbush Ave for the tour, every tour, because we don't have enough engine co.'s....And then pay them what you make, and give them the same bennies, and don't take into consideration the long term damage that comes with sitting in an idling diesel engine vehicle....It will never happen. Its ok for the ambulance guys, but not for the rest.
  17. Hospital security? After all, the vehicle was on hospital propery, perhaps the hospital should be sited for having unauthorized people wandering around emergency vehicles?
  18. Why not just book a flight to mexico, and cross the border illegally? Much more benefits would be afforded you that way....the whole citizen thing is overated.
  19. Just curious, any reason that SSM seems ok for the ambulances, but not ok for engine companies and ladder companies? Could you imagine what would happen if a city decided to cut back on suppresion, and to make up for a possible extended response time put them at cross street locations? Just curious.
  20. Well that would be one way to get around it.
  21. We have an EAP program, with a dedicated off-site in patient facility that would be offered at no cost to the employee. Most likely she would return in a non-patient care role. Obviously not every system has this capability, but at the end of the day, she's your employee, she has a documented illness and should be afforded room for treatment and eventual return to duty, IMHO.
  22. Tiered system, ALS and BLS, both in ambulances. ALS have the ability to refer pts for BLS transport after ALS assessment. Some calls get only a BLS response, some get a fire dept. first response. So yes, ALS can and does transport.
  23. +10, Dust's assessment of Paul Pepe.
  24. I can tell you I wrote a paper report a lot quicker than I do our new "paperless" ones.
