  1. Yeah, maybe that's why basics weren't allowed to use glucometers...
  2. Wow what a broad question to ask. I think each country has different needs, standards, expectations, and problems to have a global system of training.
  3. I grew up in Montg. County but have spent most of my summers on the western/eastern shores and sailing on the bay.
  4. yogurt is gross though.
  5. You didn't give the impression otherwise, just wanted to make sure I was clear. I tend to space when posting and half the time I'm sure I sound like a special cup of apple sauce.
  6. But asking can spark discussion and debate. In my experience, both docs are very open to providers calling or e-mailing them with questions and discussing issues or new research.
  7. Hey, I've seen those running around Kent Island! I like the first one...reminds me of the local FD here where I live now.
  8. Maryland EMS is so quirky sometimes it annoyed me. Basics couldn't do a simple BGL check in the field and the order was to just give oral glucose to all altered LOC for unknown causes. Mike, the doc, and island are right, challenge those who make the protocols with evidence. Ask Dr. Alcorta and Dr. Bass why the protocols are the way they are. They have taken out spinal immobilization for isolated penetrating trauma, where when I practiced, it was in the protocol to backboard penetrating injuries, so changes do occur.
  9. Agreed. If he was alert and mentating well enough to converse with you during transport, monitoring and diesel seem like a good idea.
  10. What was his LOC? BP looks good for now but with out knowing how he was mentating I'm not sure yet.
  11. So sorry for your loss doc.
  12. Welcome from a former resident of MD also! You're in a pretty part of the state.
  13. Hang out more.... we need more traffic in here
  14. I'm watching the Bronco's game and looking at lifts/bumpers for my new car.
  15. Welcome!
  16. I've never had a twinkie so I dunno.
  17. With the EDS, my gums bleed constantly, even though I floss and brush daily, just very fragile skin. Every time I have my teeth cleaned I bleed like a stuck pig then get yelled at for poor dental hygiene. So that and the fact that they like to dislocate my jaw everytime means I get knocked out and see a oral/maxillofacial surgeon every time.
  18. Dentists are very bad bad bad people... I need IV sedation to even get in the door. Dental anxiety is nothing to joke about!
  19. Or the people that really don't need them for physical pain at all...
  20. I didn't know starburst could go stale?
  21. Holy cow! Yeah we pay $580/6mo in insurance for full coverage on 3 vehicles and a motorcycle. My payments really aren't bad and that new car smell is incredible. I got it super dirty/muddy today in the snow though! Had some guys turn their heads also when I was at the jeep store getting some rock sliders/side steps, CB radio, and some other random accessories. Apparently jeep girls are rare?
  22. Their trade in value was my pay off. Nothing was rolled over...I'm not an idiot.
  23. I get it. Blonde moment/post Hawaii moment. I was thinking more in terms of conversing with the patient than r/o diagnoses based on gender. My bad.
