  5. Yeah, we're supposed to get 6-12" here... I'm loving this since we really need the water/moisture! Hopefully we'll have enough reserve for wildfire season.
  6. To me a good preceptor is one that let's the student succeed and fail (to a degree). On my last day of OB rotation I totally fumbled with setting up a drip and moving fluids over. No harm was done, my preceptor stood and watched what I was doing, and when I figured it out, she said good job. When we left the patients room she took time to show me a few tricks to make it easier for the next time. Never on that rotation did I feel rushed, scared, or intimidated by her. She wMade the learning experience priceless, and on top of that she is writing me a letter of recommendation to grad school! A good preceptor is one who is calm, relaxed, and collected enough to watch a student fumble.
  7. You could look into a support unit to bring out large area heaters... not sure how that would have helped this situation though.
  8. Ellicott City is a great place with pretty good schools. My uncle teaches at Eastern Tech and I'll give him a ring this weekend to talk about schools. That's kind of my old stomping grounds so I'll do some digging. I have another uncle who lives in Baltimore proper and I can ask him about housing also as he works construction.
  9. We already have 4" of snow here in east Denver, took me 2 hours to drive what's normally a 20 minute drive home from the hospital. Really not looking forward to my drive in tomorrow at 5am

  19. Ok, I've been reading and researching this correlation but can't seem to find much on it. In our ABG lecture notes it was mentioned that patients in respiratory acidosis wil have increased cerebral vascular dilation. I'm so terribly confused. Is this why we used to want to hyperventilate brain trauma patients? Hyperventilation can cause respiratory alkalosis which I'm guessing can cause constriction of cerebral vasculature? I've tried to find some scholarly articles on this to help me get it but am so turned around and lost. Why does acidosis increase vascular dilation? What's the physiology behind this? Sorry, I'm just so turned around on this and ABG's and we have our final tomorrow so I'm trying to understand it at a physiological level so maybe I can critically think through the questions. Thanks!
  20. I was a big fan of Third Watch when I was younger... I also enjoyed Rescue Me quite a bit.
