Dwayne... Depending on how early the pregnancy it would be difficult to find a correlation between even minor trauma/stress to the body and a spontaneous abortion. Personal anecdote being.... a woman on my hockey team <10weeks pregnant (didn't know even pregnant) played a hockey tournament, 6 games in a day and a half, and miscarried two days later... are the two related? Her doctor didn't know but quite possibly the stress her body went through that weekend was too much, or it was completely unrelated. Point is, the fact that a woman carries to term without complications is a damn miracle. So many things can go wrong in the first trimester to cause a spontaneous abortion that I don't think we can discount the stress a broken toe and ER trip can have on a embryo/fetus.

From the sounds of it, most likely not. Wilderness EMT covers much more rugged medicine....how to make a traction set out of a tree branch and webbing or rope... how to create a litter using the materials around you. If you're interested in wilderness medicine, I highly recommend NOLS WMI (National Outdoor Leadership School Wilderness Medicine Institute).... they have an established curriculum and courses all over the U.S. (that's United States for you smart arses out there).... And to the OP... OEC is not a widely used acronym in EMS (Emergency Medical Services) like EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) is, so don't assume (ass u me) that we would instantly know what you are talking about from a few short sentences.

I feel like this could easily be a charge RN's duty. Stay current on the protocols and educated their shift on EMS practices. They can also act as the liaison between the field and the ER.... Sounds like a good job for Scotty

My first thought would be Rocky Mountain Spotted Tick Fever... I had it when I was a kid and remember my mom saying I had a very diminished WBC... But the doc would know a ton more than I and had a great link that even went over the tick fever... Good luck and I really hope your dad recovers quickly!!!

The iPhone is awesome...there is an app even to do facetime over the regular cell service and no need for WiFi. Just get the Otterbox if you do get it to protect it Skype would probably not be that useful, unless there was a strong enough wifi on the rig... you can video chat for free... I use it with my parents who are sailing around the world and are often in very remote islands.

Glen Echo Fire Department works with a bunch of AU students too and is a straight shot on Mass. Ave from AU. Their volunteer coordinator also is a student at AU... Give them a call 301-229-1686 and talk to him... They work with college kids a lot and even have a live-in program that used to be great, I've been out of their department for a few years but I am pretty sure it's still going on. Very easy bus ride from campus. Good luck!

Personally, I can only imagine if that had happened here in the U.S.... Chelsea Clinton recently got married and it was modest and private.... I understand the daughter of a former U.S. President does not fall on par with a royal wedding, but still. I would like to know the total cost of that wedding...and who exactly footed that bill.
