  2. yay for the smart people of Maryland!!! I wonder what EMS really thought when they walked on scene.... and they had to consult to get the trooper there... i would give anything for a copy of that consult!
  3. I'll be there.
  4. I did NOLS for my Wilderness EMT. They offer a Wilderness Upgrade for Medical Professionals which is a 5-day course to refresh some skills and learn some new ways to approach things. They do count as CEU credits although I forget which one. I did mine at Landmark Learning Center in Cullowhee, NC. It was an amazing week spent with some pretty amazing people. FROM THE WEBSITE Wilderness Upgrade for Medical Professionals (WUMP) Building on your background in urban emergency care you will learn how to improvise equipment, deal with challenging environmental conditions, and make difficult medical decisions in remote locations. This intense, hands-on curriculum utilizes daily role plays, case studies and practical scenarios. Expect to spend plenty of time applying your knowledge. The course will upgrade EMTs to WEMT and all others to Wilderness First Responders in accordance with the current standards in wilderness /rural pre-hospital medicine. (Minimum pre-requisite level of certification for this course is current NREMT or State EMT-Basic.) Continuing Education: * Pre-approved for 48 hours of EMT Continuing Education Hours (CEH) by the State of Colorado and the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS). * Physicians may earn 36 hours of category 1 CME's through the Wilderness Medical Society. There is an additional fee of $100 for physicians requesting CME's. * This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the Wilderness Medical Society and the Wilderness Medicine Institute of NOLS. The Wilderness Medical Society is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. * For active members of the Wilderness Medical Society, this course has been approved for 35.75 hrs. (30.75 primary + 5 elective) hours of credit towards a Fellowship of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWM). There is an additional fee of $15 for students requesting these credits. For more information, please visit: Fellows Brochure * Course Length: 5 days * Prerequisites: current NREMT or State EMT-Basic * Recommended for: EMT's, nurses, physicians, and other medical professionals. http://www.landmarklearning.org/courses-nols.php Good luck and PM me if you have any questions!

  6. I am so very sorry for the loss. My thoughts to you and your family.
  7. Uhm...hasn't happened yet ? How old were you when I took your first vacation/where to?
  8. I really wish there were like 30 some days though! And 12 others.... can I be Father Time and just change the days according to my every wish and desire??
  9. I haven't dyed my hair in over a year! I am my natural brunette colour now! I HAVE PROOF!
  10. I thought I was loosing my mind cause you posted the SAME LINK on the resume post.... -5 for repeating your posts
  11. All the alphabet soup courses should be a review type class in my opinion. My ITLS course which I took at the Maryland Fire Rescue Institute (www.mfri.org) was a review of trauma mechanisms and new ways of looking at injuries/treatment... We went into depth about the use of spinal immobilization in penetrating thoracic trauma (GSW's)... But they are still classes which should be recognized as it shows that the provider sought out to learn more about their field I know plenty of basics who are just too happy being a basic so those who strive to learn more should be recognized with alphabet soups
  12. Ok... I take offense to the comment on Basics not having other certs besides CPR... When I was a basic I had PEPP and BTLS (ITLS) so don't go there with the whole basic/paramedic thing....that argument is old. What I did on mine was at the bottom I have listed classes to note and put the big important ones there such as EVOC, PALS, ACLS and ITLS... Or you could include a scanned copy of your certs with the resume... Good luck!!
  13. My point is that parents trust their MINORS to the school and that they keep them safe during the school day...they didn't provide a safe environment (glass walkways...seriously?).... same way VT victims parents could sue VT and why there was a settlement.
  14. which part? but no none of it was sarcasm or a joke... just my opinion
  15. owiees! I can't imagine that bear is really okay.... he practically landed on his nose! They couldn't use the air mattress things?
  16. well... but I'm 21 and supposed to go out partying and drinking every night! humph!
  17. and then going home to go to sleep not sit and listen to a spanish lecture
  18. the class is 7:20-8:55
  19. it's not the 20 part it's the 7 friggin AM part!!! Sane people are asleep!
  20. unlimited supply of rum
  21. I'll still be there... let me know if there's anything I can do from here...I'm about 40 minutes from Baltimore... I don't have much time to go to the conferences because of how odd my class schedule is (what kind of school has a spanish class at 720 am?!?) but I can definitely make a dinner/drinks get together!
  22. Did my first shot of tequilla at 15.... first sip of beer I was like 12-13 and first hot tottie was 12 for a bad chest cold (my mama is from TX what do you expect!) How old were you when you realized the other sex didn't have cooties and was actually attractive?
  23. Kids are kids... they do things all the time that adults deem stupid but when you all look back to your childhoods...how many times could you have ended up just as badly hurt from something just as "stupid." I think that the parents have every right to sue the school if they wish because they are responsible for the safety of the students while on school grounds and from the information given they didn't do their job. Whether they tried to break up the rough housing or not I have no idea but an accident happened on their property and the parents can sue. Hell--a woman sued the USPS for leaving her mail at her door step because she tripped over it and fell injuring her back... and she won... So before you go judging the acts of others ... "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"
