Beacause it has multiple functions. Acts as a stair chair, and stretcher.

Don't they already have several types of those. Minus the tracks, but they have ones that can attach to the base wheels of Stryker stretchers too. Personally, I'd rather have a regular stretcher w/ tracks.

But, it appears it can only low carry, not high carry, so if I am wheeling someone a long distance after going down stairs, seems to have run in to the back problem again.

Now, if it is lightweight in it's own right, and powered assist, also, without need to recharge the drive too often during one call...?

I do, however, echo the lament if the device has potential for the crew to carry a distance once level ground is attained, at risk of back injury, then perhaps not!
