Grants for rural EMS?

Are there any good grants that help out rural EMS? Some of our equipment is out dated like our monitors are the zoll 1600 series. If anyone could help that would be great.

What about fundraising in you local communities?

People are usually pretty good about forkin it over if you tell them a specific piece of equipment you are after!

YES They are right there is not much out there for EMS grants the AFG's started giving to some EMS Grants but not much good luck finding Grants for EMS let us know if you find some. And when do we have time doing fund raisers. And that was funny asking the state for Grant moneys they mandate equipment but do not fund it.

If you work for a hospital based ambulance you do not qualify for any grants that I have found. Any grant I've found have been reserved mainly for fire departments. Some grants for private EMS agencies but they are few and far between.

Check with local community foundations, local banks, and buisnesses. Look outside the box.

You do not have to be a fire dept EMS to qualify.

Also think about the specific equipment you need and then match it to likely donors: pediatric equipment, your local peds hospital --- cardiac monitors -- Medtronic grants, Spinal Immobilization -- NHTSA. Many AED companies will do a buy one get one free deal. Just be careful, as grants usually have strings attached, and mandatory quarterly/annual follow-up paperwork of some kind.
