As stated they are two different markets. But don't be upset about it. Being a CNA is not that great. But, they do make good money.

If FL. you can get trained in two weeks, in most NH's!!!!

Not trying to start a battle but I'm confused as to why you say being a CNA is not that great.

Having worked as a CNA and EMT for many years. I've found both of them to be enjoyable. Like any job there are days that aren't great. But as a CNA I got to know many of my patients and their families and became part of their lives. And with alot of NH patients the CNA's are the only family that they have left.

Every state seems to have their own guidelines/requirements for CNA's and also for EMS. Your saying Florida has a 2 week CNA class run by a NH. Here in Maine its a 150 hour program run by the state. My CNA testing was very equivelant to my EMT testing. Run by the by state and I had to pass a written test and practical test.

You know I hear all the time that CNA's are nothing but butt wipers. Yeah in a way they are but without the CNA's what would happen to all the elderly in NH's. It sure as heck not going to be the LPN's and RN's wiping the butts.

And working in a NH is not alot different than being at a mass casulaty scene. Working in a NH I've never had less than 10 patients at a time. Being in the back of an ambulance is like a treat sometimes you've only got 1 or 2 patients.

I agree with. I am have been a CNA for a long time and a EMT. They pay is equal to the work load. Frankly I would like to see most of the EMT's I know do my job as a CNA, they wouldn't be able to handle it.
