Doczilla Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 10-8, no pt found. Call us back if you find him. Police can chase him down if they like, but I see no reason to tie up the ambulance. 'zilla
mrmeaner Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 To quote Smokey from "Friday": "You ain't catching no crackhead!"
emtcater Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 I agree that it's the "Po-Po's" responsibility to first secure the "scene" before contact by EMS is made. There's no sense in placing yourself in harm's way in order to treat a pt.
Richard B the EMT Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 If the patient has already left the scene, as already said by '2Lead, advise dispatch the patient has left the scene prior to our arrival, unknown direction or destination, and go available for other calls. Leave following or hunting for the patient to Harry the Hunter, Tommy the Tracker, or, best bet, Leo the LEO. When they find the patient, another call to EMS dispatch will be made, and you, or another team, will then get the patient.
jmp6753 Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 If they have left the scene, time to clear and return to quarters via the nearest corner mart for a Mt Dew. If you do happen to stumble across the pt in the vehicle some where on the road what are you going to do? You dont have the authority to stop and detain. That is flirting with unlawful imprisonment. Especially if the pt did not initiate the 9-1-1 system. Put the blinders on and head back to the station.
