Here in my neck of the woods, most rescue units will kick a medic out of the car if they don't have a minimum coat, helmet and eye protection. Its only for your own good.

I personally carry a blue jumpsuit, helmet, goggles and gloves whenever I work. This all fits into a very small duffel bag that neatly stays behind the seat unless I need it.

My service we have something very similar to the Globe shown earlier. IT is by Globe, but not that exact model. Pants are a must wear unless you are wearing ems pants. Jacket optional most of the time.

I wear the jacket almost almost all the time, especially on MVAs. I only don't wear it during summer on what appears to be an "indoor medical call" but still have it in the cab of the AMBULANCE. (emphasis based on discussion in another thread.)

Our squad (all volunteer, rural) is still a part of our local fire company. In the past, we have been issued old turnout gear for use at MVAs, including pants, boots, suspenders, gloves, coat. Whenever the fire company replaced a set of gear, they would give us the old stuff. It's heavy, hot, and ill-fitting, and the only thing that differentiates us from the firemen on scene are our blue helmets. We'd like to find a lightweight (or lighter-weight, anyway)alternative. There are some one-piece jumpsuits out there, as well as two-piece.

Who uses what? What do you like/dislike about your turnout gear? Do you ALWAYS wear what you are issued, or do you "forget" to wear some parts because they're too bulky or heavy or hot or whatever? Thanks for any input.

We use the Indura by Westex pants and jacket when responding to: 1. vehicle crash with entrapment, 2. rescue situation, 3. industrial response (coal mines, strip pits, oil and gas wells, and several other styles of industry. We must have helmet, jacket, pants zipped and suspenders adjusted. If inside a vehicle or industrial use, we must have shield down and helmet strap secured. We use the Allmed AVC helmet with front shield and ringers gloves. This is what they all look like:

1. Indura by Westex- royal blue with yellow reflective bands, just like this except for its two piece: http://www.urbanhart.com/shopsite/media/pr...H-AFJS003-2.gif

2. Allmed AVC helmet- http://www.allmed.net/allmed-avc-helmet/index.html

3. Ringers EMS gloves- http://firefighteroneonline.com/ff1/index....ge&pID=1981

For a standard jacket that we are required to wear in all low light situations and MVCs we use the Allmed Ultra X jacket- http://www.allmed.net/allmed-jacket/index.html

We also have an ANSI class II rain slicker with the service name on the back.

We are required to carry all of this in a gear bag made by Iron Duck that is provided as well:

The gear bag is to be on the truck with us at all times during our shift and taken home when the shift ends.
