Hey everyone,

I've already jumped through the hoops and I'm starting a paramedic program in Ottawa at Algonquin College. It's apparently an intensive 2 year program and seems to cover all the bases. I'm now in San Diego California until the 30th of July and would love to one day live here and work as a paramedic. (American VISA is already a go) Now my question is: Can I train in Canada and come down South to work? Is algonquin college recognised by the state of California, or do I HAVE to train here? I already know about NREMT and I'm trying to get a hold of them. Any further info would be spectacular.

Thanks

My suggestion would be to get ahold of whatever California State office handles EMS (usually in the capitol city), and see if your Canadian training would be recognized in that state. Better yet, I've done the work for you....

Took a whopping 5 seconds to locate this information....now repeat after me....."Google is my friend"

Before you decide to make the move you may want to look at the pay cut you will be taking.
