I like my 10 days a month :)

Be safe,

R/R 911

I've gotten use to being awake most of the time, however we are allowed to sleep when ever. After breakfast we usually watch a movie and nap, then in the afternoon we will take care of any duties that weren't already done, and then we try to crash around 2200.

Generally our station duties are minimal as we tend to keep a really clean station.

I also work for a company that says NO to sleeping while on duty. This is in the rule book. But we are told "What I don't know about...." Where does this leave an employee???

What is stated in the employee manual goes. I would be cautious of anyone whom I worked with that said, "what I don't know......" Kinda like a bait and switch type of thing. C.Y.A

I wouldn't work for someone who wouldn't let me sleep when I'm not on calls and there is nothing else to do.....yet still expects me to be up all night.

Wow, some interesting reading. You guys certainly put in the hours.

In NZ the standard shift pattern is; 2 days 0800 - 1800, 2 nights 1800 - 0800, 4 days off.

Some in small rural volunteer areas may do 24's from home.

Someone's gotta ask Jack Bauer how he does it...

Someone's gotta tell us who Jack Bauer is and what it is that he does. :?

Jack Bauer is the main character in the TV show "24." He is a counter terrorism agent in the tv show. Each season revolves around a terrorist plot (including drama inside the Counter Terrorism Unit's (CTU) headquarters ) that unfolds over a 24 hour period. The TV show is innovative because each episode represents a 1 hour period in the day.

In reality, it's an updated and urban version of Walker, Texas Ranger with a more continuous story line. Chuck Norris doesn't sleep, he waits.
