you are correct. I guess maybe not a butt whoopin but history really doesn't care who won the majority of the battles, history only cares about who won the overall war.

It was definately not a war to be proud of on our side. But then again, when is war something to be proud of unless you are playing the game Risk or the nation simulation game called Cybernations. War is good there. But not in real life

I have to agree there Ruffles, war isn't always a good thing.

If you like playing 'real time strategy' games, I've got Age of Empires 1,II, and the expansion packs for both levels. I've also got Command & Conquer up to "Yuri's Revenge"

The War of 1812 was fought for, amongst other things, Brit ships stopping American Flag ships, stating that any crewman they saw was a Brit, and take him by force to serve on the Brit ship. They had actually stopped this before the shooting started.

The Battle of New Orleans, perhaps the most famous battle of that war, due to no electronic communications, and depending on the fastest sail ships transporting mail in that period, actually was fought at least 2 weeks after the Peace Accords were signed, So... the battle was fought after the war was already over-they just didn't know it yet.

The Battle Of New Orleans

-Artist: Johnny Horton

-the # 21 song of the 1955-1959 rock era

-was # 1 for weeks in 1959

-Words and Music by Jimmy Driftwood

In 1814 we took a little trip

Along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip

We took a little bacon and we took a little beans

And we caught the bloody British in the town of New Orleans

We fired our guns and the British kept a'comin'

There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago

We fired once more and they began to runnin'

On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico

We looked down the river and we seed the British come

And there must have been a hundred of 'em beatin' on the drum

They stepped so high and they made their bugles ring

We stood behind our cotton bales and didn't say a thing

We fired our guns and the British kept a'comin'

There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago

We fired once more and they began to runnin'

On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico

Old Hickory said we could take 'em by surprise

If we didn't fire our muskets till we looked 'em in the eyes

We held our fire till we seed their faces well

Then we opened up our squirrel guns and gave 'em ..Well....we...

fired our guns and the British kept a'comin'

There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago

We fired once more and they began to runnin'

On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico

Yeah they ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles

And they ran through the bushes where a rabbit couldn't go

They ran so fast that the hounds couldn't catch 'em

On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico

We fired our cannon till the barrel melted down

So we grabbed an alligator and we fought another round

We filled his head with cannonballs 'n' powdered his behind

And when we touched the powder off, the gator lost his mind

We fired our guns and the British kept a'comin'

There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago

We fired once more and they began to runnin'

On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico

Yeah they ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles

And they ran through the bushes where a rabbit couldn't go

They ran so fast that the hounds couldn't catch 'em

On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico

SPOKEN TAG

Hut, hut, three, four

Sound off, three, four

Hut, hut, three, four

Sound off, three, four

Hut, hut, three, four

My great-grandparents and aunt & uncle are buried almost right next to Johnny in Bosier City, LA.

I wonder, how many girls wouldn't put out during the War of 1812? :-k

[/font:3820709433] I liked the first post. As for the song by Johnny Horton, I had that on cassette years back, it's a great song. Made me laugh at the Britts every time. :D

I believe that many girls, and some women, don't realize that there is a physical effect on the guy. It's not just a disappointment for the young man.

I don't want to sound crast, but a comment on Saturday Night Live by Tina Fey seemed appropriate, "Remember, your mouth can't get pregnant."

So the old, 'it's not the size that matters, honey.' IS just a lie! :)

Not only that.....don't you think we'd have better 'skills,' if women would just put down that immitation phallus for a while and quit being so judgemental? :-k :-k :-k

lonestar - yeah the whole size doesn't matter is a little fib. If its TOO BIG then it hurts...sometimes... lol

you guys would have better skills if you just read a womens magazine. That way you will know what we are told by the zine like " How to Get your man to give it to you GOOD". no joke all men should pick up a cosmo or a womens world magazine sometime. lol :ky:
