mobey Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Droop? Drift? Trouble speaking? any motor or sensory deficits? Temp? What time of day is it? Has she left the house today? Get any drinks/food from friends? Recent headaches/vision disturbances? Has she been sick in the last few days?
Arizonaffcep Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Recent headaches/vision disturbances? Has she been sick in the last few days? To go along with this...any nuchal rigidity? Fever? Could be a meningitis thing...
Just Plain Ruff Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 one of two things come to mind My cousin has mini seizures that present exactly like this. Her EMT partner noticed them and he told her about em. She is now under treatment for them. Or... I would suspect narcolepsy but.... with this presentation exactly like my cousins I'd suspect seizures until ruled out other wise. yeah yeah yeah I'm back.
mobey Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 My cousin has mini seizures that present exactly like this. Actually Ruff, I recently read an article on Epilepsy that talked about seizure with this presentation, good thinking.
cfaulknor Posted October 23, 2008 Author Posted October 23, 2008 Ruff, Is there a name for this type of seizure? I wouldn't fall under grand or petit mal, so how would they be classified?
mobey Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Ruff, Is there a name for this type of seizure? I wouldn't fall under grand or petit mal, so how would they be classified? Can we get more info to keep the scenario going? Or were you just wondering our assessments?
Just Plain Ruff Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Ruff, Is there a name for this type of seizure? I wouldn't fall under grand or petit mal, so how would they be classified? I will see My relative on Sunday and I'll ask her then.
p3medic Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Around here, narcotic OD, heroin, oxy's etc...would be my working dx, until we learn more about the patient assessment findings. For some reason the bathroom is the most common place to shoot some H.
sirduke Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Absence seizures? New onset of hypothyriodism?
pguy280 Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Given her age and signs and symptoms I am thinking cataplexy. This can be brought on by stress both positive and negative. Just a thought.
