Aside from the sarcasm, people think MRSA/Staph abscesses are spider bites. Perhaps, actual bites, do become infected from scratching, etc.

I thought it may also be appropriate to mention scabies in this thread.

I had a patient recently who had a small cluster of what he called "spider bites" on his wrist, they indeed turned out to be scabies.

(the call was not for the bites)
