firedoc5 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 A very personal loss to me is the loss of Billy Powell of Lynyrd Skynyrd. He passed away yesterday of an apparent MI. He was the keyboard player and one of the original members. He survived the plane crash in 1977 that killed four of the band members plus the two pilots. So, Godspeed my brother. You will not be forgotten.
Dustdevil Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 This one hit me hard when I heard it on the radio, first thing after waking up the other day. What a loss. I recently learned that a guy I used to tour with is now playing guitar for Skynard, so I've been enjoying a resurgence of my Skynyrd affection. Now Gary Rossington is the only original members still in the lineup. Billy Powell, 1952 - 2009 Adios, Billy. I can't wait to see you and Ronnie together again soon! Watch this video to remember Billy -- wearing the same shirt -- and the whole band at their best. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=789_1232752278 (I don't guess there's a way to embed a non-YouTube video here?)
Chief1C Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=789_1232752278 That has got to be the longest song I have ever listened to...
spenac Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Many a beer passed my lips while sitting on the tailgate of my truck listening to freebird. Guess all the great are getting old and dieing.
Dustdevil Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 That has got to be the longest song I have ever listened to... That is arguably one of the reasons that it is the greatest song of all time, although certainly not among the top reasons.
