Fire engine supplemented with ALS equipment

For very little cost, the Fire Department has been able to supplement its current emergency medical service. Engine 3, which already responds to all medical emergencies, is now outfitted with advanced life support equipment.

That means when Cohasset’s sole ambulance, which is licensed for advanced life support services, is out on a call or transporting someone to the hospital, the staff and engine will be able to provide advanced first response care to a medical emergency. Before Engine 3 became permitted as an advanced life support licensed vehicle, in some cases it could take up to 10, or even 15, minutes from when the call is received for a mutual aid ambulance to respond to a medical emergency in Cohasset.
