ninjaemtff Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Ok, so I'm taking the HazMat Operations class is a prereq for my firefighter 1 class and a few other classes. We were talking about WMD's last class and I forgot to ask my instructor so I thought I would bring this to the forums. If someone knowingly has aids, and has sexual relations with a large amount of people because the person knows that he or she has aids and wants to spread the disease to cause death etc...would it be considered a WMD or an act of terrorism?
AnthonyM83 Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I've known some promiscuous girls in my time, but that would be a whole LOT of freakiness to get to the level of WMD. Biological terrorism, yes. WMD, I'd say no. But I don't know the exact definitions being used and all.
crotchitymedic1986 Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Having sex with someone who has aids, does not guarantee that you will get aids. Anyone that is dumb enough to have unprotected sex with a stranger deserves to contract aids, so I would say it is not terrorism, but actually darwinism at its finest.
Arizonaffcep Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 There was a similar case to this around 2000 out of the mid west. Some sports player did the same sort of thing. Might want to look it up.
Cookie Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I know that in Iowa that if a person knowingly had aids and continues to have sexual relations with another person and fails to inform the other person of the condition he or she has, they will be arrested and tried for it, and go to jail, if found guilty. I am not sure which law they use for this, but needless to say they spend a good share of their life or what is left behind bars. I do not think its WMD or terrorism.
Richard B the EMT Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Don't hold me to this, but someone was indicted for manslaughter for passing the disease along, knowing he had it. The Law and Order show used the concept as a springboard for a storyline, too.
firemedic197 Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I not sure it really counts as either.
Arizonaffcep Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I would think it would...seeing as they did happen and the person was convicted.
wrenEMT Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I think put that way then it would be considered attempted murder.. By definition according to law it's attempted murder, and if multiple people die of that then it would result in serial murder because the person knowingly put other people at risk and in the result of that risk caused their death. So my answer is Neither!!!
