This is amazing, back here we have saying: Never talk politics, sport or religion at work (or anywhere for that matter), cause it's bound to turn into a mudslinging situation.

I can not for the life me believe that there are still so many naive people in this world, especially from what is supposed to be first world countries. It seems as a third world country, we in South Africa have more respect for freedom of decision and freedom of believe than most the people that have replied to this thread.

Why does anything regarding religion have to end in a mudslinging contest? Are we not all adults?

Seeing that everyone seems to refer to the book of Genesis, I would like to through a spanner in the works, answer me this:

1)After Kain has slain Able, he left the garden of Eden and found a wife, where did his wife come from? (Genesis 4)

2) Take the King James version of the Bible and compare the wording with the new translation Bible, why is it that the wording has been changed?

Every religion has it's good and bad points. As a believer, I don't care what you or any of my friends faith is, so long as you don't force it down my throat.

As for evolution, I know too little about it to say I do or don't believe in it.

I too have purposely chosen to not comment on this post. I want people to like me for the jerk I am, not what I do or do not believe. While I thoroughly enjoy a good debate and will even take the losing argument just for the sake of a debate, this thread is a BAD IDEA.

I believe in creation as it goes in Genesis. I base my faith on the whole Bible and do not pick pieces out to suit my convenience.

Matthew 5:29-30- If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

And ofcourse, because the bible says no one is without sin, you have cut off a few body parts, have you not? :roll: Of coruse you haven't, because you picked this verse out as a matephor, am I right? Christians believing in Evolution is not about "pick[ing] pieces out to suit my convenience", it is about knowing which pieces are literal, and which are figurative.

I believe that things adapt and therefore change.

The more I have studied biology and genetics the more I was convinced in creation.

Can you please elaborate how what things Biology has shown you that cause you to believe in the bible literally?

SA_Medic, Rid, and CHP, it is just a fun debate. Why are you guys getting so worked up over it? So far, even the argueing has remanded relatively civil, no name calling, just the facts. This has been a peaceful, fun debate. If someone doesn't want to debate, they do not have to reply. Just relax, have faith that the good people of EMTCity are mature enough to disagree without being mean about it.
