We have 21 students, and when we did the CPR practicals, we were broken into 4 groups, the 'odd numbered groups' did the written while the 'even numbered groups' worked on the practicals. After both 'sections' were finished, we took a 15 minute break and switched. I think it worked out very well. I think that another way to handle this effectively would be to break this down into 'stations'. As a student or pair of students finishes a station, the next student (or pair) is preparing to move into it. Even though it sounds like an 'assembly line' structure, it keeps everyone moving along smoothly. LS
Richard B the EMT Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 As one who gets paid to sit in the FDNY EMS Academy classroom by the department, we seem to go, for practical skills instruction and refresher instruction, with 5 students to one instructor.
