Wow this attitude would break Jason at JEMS heart. Perhaps he will right about it in his volly column. He pisses me off.

I still love my unattributed quote from JEMSConnect that made his column.

How is that my old service had two paid staff 24/7/365 manning the station at a station that did only 40 calls a year, yet you guys aren't busy enough at more than one call per day to justify paid?

And these medics got paid almost $30/hr to do it.

the company wont pay it they are having issues paying what they are paying now. we have to fight to get new equipment when we need it cause the board is made up of business ppl and two on the board have ems experience. for the record here I am not one that quit. I have no intentions on following the rest. there has been alot of other things that have been goin on but this I think broke the camels back. I have found out some other things that i cant release but I amgoin to investigate it further.

Stupid vollies, do it for free and hurt ems, or move and get paid it's that simple. If people want to live in an area with no ambulance service and or very little resources well thats where they choose to be.

on this service some of the ppl are using it as there bread and butter

Why? Any minimum wage job would pay better.

minimum wage job = around 70 per 12 hours (I don't know what the minimum wage is right now)

Standby and do nothing at the ambo barn = 40 bucks a shift.

Run one call a day get 37.50 but no stipend

Sounds like some people need to go redo their math.

minimum wage job = win

How can you get paid 40 per day and use it as your bread and butter, do they still live in their parents basement?

I just honestly don't see how you can call yourself a volunteer yet get paid to do it. Can someone explain that bit of fuzzy logic to me!!!!!!!!!!

this $37.50 per call makes me laugh too.

So, if you do one call per shift, you actually make $2.50 less then sitting around doing nothing?
