not getting any younger

...

Well Mrs. Bedgood thats not good spirit. Yes I know Im only 24 and just a baby still and yes your statment is technically true. But regardless of age and your still young, you can do a lot. I know you dont want to be a nurse but this is just an example. A friend of mine went for her BS as an RN at the age of 50 and completed it successfully. I know another RN that started around 48 or 49. Also, I just read an article on yahoo about 2 months or ago about a man in his 60s who applied for a police department with no age limit. He was hired (with NO prior experience law enforcement or military) and graduated the academy top of his class both in academics and PHYSICAL training. While it may not be true physically, I feel in mind it holds pretty solid ground that your only as young as you feel.

Ive only been in EMS for 6 years. Im a bit bored with it but feel it is more an educational thing than anything else. Once I get my Connecticut EMT-B transfered and upgraded to a Tennessee EMT-IV, I plan to seek out an Associates Degree as a Paramedic. In addition Im starting to save up some cash so I can start taking instructor courses. Ive been told that Im a great teacher and I plan to take advantage of that. Id like to start my own business once I gain enough experience. Thats just me though.

I dont have much in the way of advice I can offer you. Most everyone here has already touched on things I would have said. I do agree though that 5 years isnt very long, but in the end only you can decide that for yourself.

Im happy for you that you have a patient husband. If only my ex-wife were tha same way.

Hmmm you say you want to stay within the field and use your skills elsewhere in one breath yet say you are burnt out and want to do something different in another. If you are restless with this are you entirely sure you will be wanting to stay in another profession or will you burn out in it as well? I'm not being hateful, but devil's advocate and is something to consider.

As far as a change of pace, it seems you have made all the rounds and it really makes me wonder was this the right profession for you to start off with? You didn't say what caused you to choose this and everyone experiences periods of burnout from time to time. Perhaps you need to walk away for a bit, do something entirely different for a little while, and then come back to it? Just a thought.

Normally I suggest moving around within the field, but it seems you've done it all. There's industrial, hospital, doc offices (here it's popular to hire medics for cardiology offices and plasma or blood donation centers), and even like worker's comp claim processing. Perhaps something with minimal to no patient contact would be ideal for you at this time as you don't want to continue through with a foul attitude as you are benefiting no one.

Best of luck in your pursuits.

And by the way admin - can we move this post out of meet and greet?
