It is with sadness I saw that Walter Cronkite passed away a little while ago. He was perhaps the greatest newscaster I ever watched.

RIP Walter, 1916 to 2009

Finally! A celebrity (such as being considered the "most trusted man in America" can be) worthy of some respect! Sad, though, to hear of his passing.

RIP.

Yes ParaMike, I'm sad to say, that long after the world has forgotten of his passing, they will still be clamoring about MJ. A sad testament to our society.

Respect, me arse. He was an entertainer, just like MJ. No more.

I haven't had any use for him since 1968.

I agree Dust. I chuckle on how they are glorifying him about being impartial but yet gave his personal view on Vietnam? It appeared to be an agenda and it worked.

I feel more respect towards "Uncle" Walter, than MJ.

Chet Huntly and David Brinkley just brought in another chair for the celestial news cast.

I remember watching him and David Brinkley on the evening news as a kid. I won't say at the time that I understood alot of what he was talking about......

....and that's the way it was!

At least they're back together again!

Huntley/Brinkley Report was NBC, and Cronkite was CBS. After NBC broke up the duo, Chet Huntley died, and David Brinkley moved to ABC until his death.

Hence, I somewhat doubt they are "back" together.
