City of Eunice to Fund Fire Chief’s Appeal Process

Staff Report

NewsWest 9

EUNICE, NEW MEXICO - The City of Eunice will foot the bill for Fire Chief Ron Grogan's appeal process.

As NewsWest Nine first told you, the New Mexico State Health Department suspended Grogan on grounds of sexual misconduct.

They'd received a complaint that he felt a woman's breast during a May 23rd E-M-S call.

The City Manager says it was his decision to have the City Attorney represent Grogan during an upcoming appeal hearing, which means taxpayers will pay for it.

And it continues..........Is it also consensual when someone slips someone a date rape drug now? He had snowed his patient then he touched her. Just because she said he could does not make it right.

Hearing Delayed for Eunice Fire Chief

Staff Report

NewsWest 9

EUNICE, NEW MEXICO - A setback for the Eunice fire chief.

Ron Grogan was supposed to have a hearing with the New Mexico Department of Health about the status his paramedic license.

The state suspended it a couple months ago after Grogan admitted to inappropriately touching a female patient on an ambulance run.

Grogan and the City of Eunice appealed that suspension saying the touching was consensual, so he didn't deserve to have his license yanked for a whole year.

His hearing for that appeal was supposed to be Friday, but it's been delayed.

No word on when it might be rescheduled.

On a different string a while back, I first heard of the alcohol tampon. Coincidently, a few weeks later, it was mentioned in one of the CSI shows.

Thats just wrong!!! :D

Thats just wrong!!! biggrin.gif

What? That it was mentioned on one of the CSI shows, or something else?

Let's face it, some folks do wierd stuff, but like the T-shirt says...

Never do anything that you don't want to explain to the EMTs or Paramedics.

If there is injury to the breast, then, yes, you may have to touch it during patient care. But other than a partial boob amputation or 12-lead, you shouldn't be touching the patient's breasts. The idiot who fondled the patient should definitely be punished. Take his certification and fire him.

What if it were her feet?

I have an aversion to involvement in patient fetishes. Call me old fashioned.

New Ruling for Eunice Fire Chief

By: Sarah Snyder

NewsWest 9

EUNICE, NEW MEXICO - More fire chief fallout in Eunice. The state health department sent down a surprise ruling.

The New Mexico Department of Health told NewsWest 9 on Tuesday that Doctor Alfredo Vigil suspended Ron Grogan's paramedic license for a year effective January 4th.

The State Licensing Commission made that recommendation a few months ago after allegations that Grogan inappropriately touched a female patient on an ambulance run.

Grogan appealed that decision and last month a state hearing officer sided with him saying the state could not prove Grogan acted inappropriately.

On Tuesday state health officials suspended the license claiming that the woman was heavily medicated and couldn't make sound decisions and the touching was not for therapeutic purposes.

The state says those are both requirements for having a paramedics license in New Mexico. Grogan can appeal the ruling within the next 30-days with the state district court.
