So im about to graduate highschool in june of 2010. I plan on being an EMT eventually Paramedic. But i was wondering about things like pay, benifits etc. I dont really feel like making 10 dollars an hour, i want to have a decent lifestyle. I've heard some EMT's make 20 to 30 dollars an hour. How do I do that? Is it better to work for a private or city service? Do citys pay more than rural/suburbs? Basically just some basic info on EMT benifits like salary, health, etc. Thanks

Go to medical school. By the time you are done, the gov't will all but ensure that you will be making $20-30/hr. Plus, it comes with more chicks.:showoff:

Maybe a firefighter.. or a medical crew member on an off shore oil well.. or a secluded industrial site. You can't look at other countries, just because the dollar figure is high, you have to look at cost of living too. It may be striking similar, if you consider how much a home and weekly expenses are. Though, in 2010, you may want to consider aiming toward becoming a Paramedic right away. You get the basic training too. You'll be safer with a better education. Especially since we don't know what the future holds for EMS.
