  1. 1. Who is going to give "Trauma" a second shot tonight?

And another thing, if the pilot would just unzip her flight suit about 1/2 in. more, this would be porn.

And there will be much rejoicing. :D

Okay, you don't want it judged by the first episode. I'll judge it by the second.

1. When was the last time I saw a helicopter cruising around and dispatch just decided to call them first to respond to an emergency within the city limits? Evidently dispatch sent them because no cops, fire, even volly fire (unless the mysterious wilson is), or other EMS to request. Some areas do allow PD to request HEMS if they deem the injury bad enough which is fine by me, especially in my area as many are also EMS trained and so in those instances a helicopter may arrive prior to ground units, but that is rare.

2. I would never allow the kid to fly with a parent in that shape. I would never allow the kid to fly period. Somebody would be called in the meantime to come get the kid. At minimum request PD.

3. Yes there are a few pilots that do have EMS training. However, roles are very clear pilots fly, medics treat. I don't know if in the situation of single medics if that is changed or not as I'm not familiar with that set up as most pull providers from the ground for a second set of hands if absolutely needed.

4. Hmmm GCS of 3 and she's not intubated? Looks like she was a prime candidate for it and if she still had a gag reflex, RSI is lookin like a great option when she started seizing. Speaking of which, I never did see a line placed in her.

5. The shooting scene - pissed me off - if you are dumb enough to get out of the truck at a scene like that, and you get a gun pulled on you well what the hell do you expect? Common sense tells you once realize it's not safe to get out of there, and they had no business getting out before the cops secured the scene. As harsh as it sounds, sorry but it's my life over yours. You chose to gang bang, I have a family to go home to.

6. The extreme lack of resources for the MCI and horrible misuse of available ambulances. Hmm, does everybody fly and if so do they get frequent flier miles? Yes there have been a very, very few incidents where limited people have been left to treat a mass amount of people (not long ago here a tornado hit and a single crew were left in the middle of the devastation and all roads to get in to them were blocked for nearly an hour and they did sole treatment, but other crews eventually came to assist with transport). This is highly unlikely though. Usually for MCI's you have plenty of resources and frequently crews are split to treat patients, and ground units are well utilized. I didn't see a single patient go in an ambulance.

7. Wish flight crews had as much time to hang out and flirt and do whatever as rabbit does. Would be nice.

8. Never heard of someone call up and go hey can I have a lift? to a helicopter crew. She could have easily gotten a ride home from another crew but oh yeah, that wouldn't have made for a good story line would it? Only time I'm aware of a crew going to retrieve a person was a rider that got left due to weight restrictions and in a far out place that the ground crew couldn't get them back or they didn't have means to get back on their own.

9. If you have two sets of hands in the helicopter, it's because you need them. Why the hell was Rabbit in the front seat when he is the flight medic and a ground medic is in the back with a patient? Seems a bit screwed up to me. There were two seats in back, already proven with the kid - so why was he up front and really why did he even need her?

10. Is it just me or are the uniforms on the ladies ending up lower and lower? I find that insulting to female professionals. If their uniforms don't accomodate the boobs, get a bigger uniform is all I have to say. To portray them in this light not only puts females in a bad light, but makes them look like they are out to treat patients with sex and not medicine.

Fair enough evaluation for round two?

Seriously. It's as if the helos have been fully integrated into the SSM system, to just troll around until something happens.

Funny how he whipped out that cricothyrotomy last week like it was an everyday occurrence, yet we have not seen a single ET tube dropped in either episode. I'm not sure they even do those in SF. It's looking like maybe not.

Meh... I'm mixed on that. I still feel there is a place for crew discretion on staging. It is clearly overused, and mindlessly so. However, if you are going to stage, then STAGE, for fuck's sake! Driving all the way to the scene, then locking yourself in your truck is not "staging", dumbasses. Once they were already in the situation they put themselves in, then going ahead and getting out and getting to work wasn't any worse choice. It beats being shot in your own ambulance.

ROFL! That's funny. I've seen guys left behind, but never have to wait for the bird to retrieve them later, lol. But yeah, that was probably the stupidest scene in this episode. She didn't switch to a back-channel or anything. Just keys up on the main dispatch channel and calls person-to-person for a ride as if it were her own private intercom. I'd have fired her.

I completely agree. It's one of the more blatant stereotypes in the show, and one I don't see going away, unfortunately. Of course, if they wanted to be realistic, they'd make most of the female medics look like Rosie O'Donnell.

Dust, you need to come ride with me for a day. Haven't had a female partner yet that was hard on the eyes. They're out there, but so far they're the exception not the rule.

Yeah she would have been fired for sure. However I've been on the receiving end of we're leaving you, but we'll come back to get you. Middle of nowhere, one basic crew county that made BFE look populated about three years ago when doing a ride along. No way to get back at least they were kinder than some services that say sorry find your own way home.

Awww dust, are you trying to say I resemble Rosie O' Donnell? I thought more of you than that. You could have at least picked a better comparison. I don't swing that way, nor do I resemble Hessa the Heffer. however gentlemen , sorry but I am not coming to work dressed like either of these pole dancer wanna be.

Take a look at at the video there. I wish that, even in my prime, I had been in half the shape that those dancers are in! You can laugh at pole dancers, but they've got a lot more athletic and artistic talent going for them than any bobsledder, or half of the other Olympic "athletes". ;)

Ok, lets fix all the things they do wrong in this show.

SF has no HEMS, ok... bye bye helicopter and 2 chars.

Staged right in front of the GSW scene, alright.. we are 2 blocks away and that scene is cut.

The guy faking heart attack for morphine... happens more often than not. But morphine would not be my first choice, so.. that scene is cut as well.

Guy having a stroke and driving into a crowd of people, only to be thought he was drunk... yea, it has happened. Newbie provider goes with the idea that he is drunk, it happens. Two people on scene, running around from patient to patient, uhm yea.. that's how it works. But it looked like 30 people or whatever got hit by the car, but only 3 or so patients... Ok, lets cut that scene too.

Getting a ride home from the HEMS crew. Not likely, but possible. Maybe they were far away from the scene or something. She came with them, why not take her back. Maybe the HEMS base is next to the EMS station.. I know a few places like that. Let's cut that scene out too, it would never happen right?

So, the only realistic scene, is the marriage counseling.

WOW we have a great show now! Now that we nitpicked all the silly/unbelievable stuff out of it.

News flash.. IT'S TELEVISION!! It's not a documentary. Not saying it's a good show, but, it's a tv show. It would be really boring if it were to be realistic. You have to catch the attention of the average Joe to keep them entertained.

You think security guards like "Mall Cop"? No, I doubt they do. That hack of an actor/comedian makes security guards look even more incompotent than they already are.

Any real firefighter will also tell you that Backdraft was a terrible view on firefighters, even Ladder 49 was.

It's all about entertainment for people who don't know any better.

Yet they all own the DVD and pleasure themselves to it while on drunken binges.

I don't own it :)

But yea, a lot them do. Even though they will say it's unrealistic. The "hero" is not someone I want t fight a fire with. The fearless are who get people like me hurt/killed. Any true firefighter, will agree.

But, it's Hollywood. Not a true story, you have to get the attention of the viewer. It would be boring if there were only non-fiction. Same goes with television and movies.

Not being harsh here, but once you realize it's no good get the heck out. Sometimes you don't know what you're going into. Sometimes you do. If you go stupidly into something with no cops that has a real chance of getting you hurt, then no. If you end up in a scene that goes bad, get out. I've had two friends of mine (same call) that started off routine and went downhill quick. One was shot and killed trying to run to behind a tree for safety. My other friend and former partner was shot in the head - lucky it just grazed him hard. Perhaps that's why I feel a bit differently than you Dust, perhaps you've had similar and still feel that way, I'm not sure. Maybe this is one we just have to agree to disagree.

No one said they weren't athletic. Heck there are pole dancing classes for workouts and they're challenging (not like I would know). And I have known a few that used it to get through law/medical school as well so no one is calling them ignorant. What I am saying is they have no place coming to work like that. The two former pole dancers that I knew - you would never know unless they told you or you were privy to their "off" time. At work, they were very respectable, classy, ladies. These two bimbos on the show could do well to learn from that. Leave the stripping for the stage or the bedroom.
