hollyemtb Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Hey just looking for some new and fun things to do with my EMT-B students. We are going over soft tissue injuries and also musculoskeltal injuries..anyone know of a good site to download pics and things like that
EMSRookie Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 my only advice is to make it as interesting as possible and give them as many FUN mnemonics as you can. i find it true that people remember things easier if you give them a funny scenario and explanation of the subject.
FireMedic65 Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 There are TONS of web-pages with visuals. Some of them are very graphic. http://www.trauma.org if it is still around, was great. Had pictures of injuries, x-rays, CT scans... and explained what you were looking at usually and often how the injury happened. Also, as simple as it sounds, http://www.images.google.com and type in what injury you are looking for. As for instruction, I would suggest you cover various injuries, more so on ones you DON'T see often. Show images of them, and practice dealing with them based on what they are looking at. Walking into a station and having the student ask "what am I looking at for an injury" is.. old. Let's use our technology and show them pictures. good luck
EMT City Administrator Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Once you find some good ones, you are welcome to share them in the gallery here so others can use them too. http://www.emtcity.com/index.php?app=gallery
P_Instructor Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Any good search engine can yield many good photos of these type of injuries. Another resource could be your programs Medical Director. If yours is like ours, he may have a plethra of photos of cases that he was involved in. If not, he may know of other ER docs that may have photo availability. Just a thought. Good luck.
