EMStat. Take notes while you're with the patient, do the PCR on a portable lap top and it automatically forwards it to the hospital for records and your regional or state EMS office for CQI and State-Wide Statistics.

The PCRs in NY State are used to generate statistics, and for that reason are supposed to be standardized thruout the state.

Per a meeting I attended just last night (as of this writing), apparently the state will allow copies of the PCRs without a series number. The "Official" edition has them preprinted.

This is NYS attempt to force agencies to go to electronic PCR's. They will not be printing up anymore and while they will allow agencies to print their own. They have to follow the current PCR format inlcuding copies and colors. This can be expensive and wind up costing more than going to say the e-PCR.

It will happen and agencies will have to fit the bill. NJ did pretty much the same thing a few years ago.

The same thing is happening here in GA. All GA services will be using E-PCR'S by 2012. We've been told the Dept. of Community Health is gonna stop printing the PCR's, not just "accidentally" run out of them, as has happened in NY.

New York State is supposed to have run out of money, and that is why they ran out of PCRs. We'll see how this affects funded EMT and Paramedic refresher classes in the immediate future.

However, I got the following from the New York State Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Association, re PCRs...

NYSVA&RA received message below from Lee Burns, Acting Director, Bureau of EMS on 12/30/09.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I just wanted to let you know that the Department of Health is in the process of printing 1,000,000 Patient Care Reports forms. We expect delivery in the not too distant future. Once we get the forms, they will be shipped to our EMS program agencies for immediate distribution. Since the arrival of the PCR shipment has not yet been provided to the DOH, we have advised EMS transporting agencies that if they are interested in printing PCRs locally, they must print the approved DOH form and that they should only obtain a supply that will hold them for 60 days or so.

I would appreciate it if you could share this information with your EMS constituency.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Lee
