Hello to one and all!

My name is JD. I am currently an EMT-B but I just started my EMT-P class as of yesterday (Jan. 7th 2010). I can't wait to learn and practice!

Any helpful words of wisdom or thoughts will always be greatly appreciated!

Here's some advice for you for medic class

1. Study hard - you'll be glad you did

2. Some people are intelligent, some are ignorant - learn who's who fast and stick with the intelligent ones - they'll teach you something

3. Keep the number to the suicide hotline nearby (we joked through class that we had it on speed dial on all our phones and we were each other's therapists - marriage, counselors, etc - sometimes we weren't joking !)

4. Have fun - you'll get more hands on time in class with some things than you may ever get again in your life as few departments have the option of clinical rotations to maintain skills. Soak it up, don't be afraid to ask the docs and nurses questions, they're a great resource. If you have a doc that's willing to teach you - take them up on that opportunity, do not walk away.

Welcome to the forum and enjoy !

Hey JD.

I'm just about 1 1/2 hrs from you in Pitt County. Are you taking your class at Wake? There is a member here that took the degree programme there. Enjoy your classes and as firefly stated, don't be afraid to ask questions!!

Oh, and is it true the best thing about Raleigh is the sign that says "Greenville 85 miles"? LOL

Nah Jake, the best thing about Raleigh is it's not Greenville lol. Gotta watch out for that Jake - he's a character :clown:

Jake...LoL...no I am not taking my Medic thru Wake Tech...I choose Johnston County. It's a shorter program. It's a little closer to home and it does not require me to retake my basic.

But the truely BEST part about Raleigh is 2 simple things...1) The "HOT" sign at the Krispy Kreme and 2) a Snoopy's Hot Dog...those 2 things right there make this town somewhat livable.
