What a terribly sad situation.

I am sure that those involved will be questioning themselves over "should I, could I, if I had just..." for a long time, and it will be hard on everyone involved.

My prayers to the family, friends, and co-workers.

My condolences to everyone impacted by this LODD... :( Stay safe out there folks, remember, it's never when you expect it that catches you...

This was very close to home, border of my part time job, just north of my fulltime job and a few miles from home. I dont know the medic personally but regardless we are all one family.

OK why was he playing cop? This is just sad that because he got tunnel vision his family and friends will suffer. We need to learn that if patients are confrontational or want to run that we go away and let the cops have them. I work with a service that pays in the top 10% when cost of living is included in the USA and I know I am not paid enough to add this type of risk.

The below is from the link:

"The medics arrived first and were approached by the person and as a result, the medic was injured at the scene," Andrew Aninsman of the Bensalem Police said.

Investigators say the man then ran. One paramedic followed. When his partner caught up to the two, the medic was on the ground.

I would ask we not "monday morning quarterback" this from news reports. There will be offical reports and the last thing this community needs is negitive comments.

Discussion will hopefully keep more from dieing. From his death hopefully some good can come.

I am looking forward to getting more details on this. Based on the story, we have no idea what happened.

What is does show is that this is a veteran, trained as a Tactical Medic, so he should be fully aware of potential hazards. Clearly he was caught totally off guard by whatever happened to him.

Despite experience and training, sometimes we can get complacent, so it does serve as notice that we ALWAYS need to be vigilant.

RIP to that medic.

No. The last thing this community needs is another dead EMS provider. If questioning and discussion will help save the life of an EMS-er, even if that discussion is stimulated by an incomplete or partially inaccurate news report, then good can come out of what is otherwise a tragic situation.

We learn from our mistakes. We learn from the mistakes of others. It would be a major injustice to not learn from the unfortunate mistakes of the medic in question.
