Anyone want to play a game of "Guess the religion?"

Which religion(s) does the following quote come from?

Alex Trebek, I will take Deuteronomy for 1300 please.

Alex Trebek, I will take Deuteronomy for 1300 please.

Oh wait!! I think that is from the Christian Bible!!!!

So would it have mattered if the quote was from the Koran or any of the other religious books or does it only matter because it's from the "Cristian Bible"?

And Actually, the first amendment does not apply in this situation.

There are at least 22 mosques in New York City. Those wanting to worship at a mosque have the ability to do so, as a matter of fact, I believe that within 1 mile there are at least a couple other mosques.

The first amendment doesn't apply because they aren't restricting anyone's right to worship their religion. It's as simple as that, if you have your pick of 22 other mosques in New York City then restricting one mosque from being built does not impinge upon your freedom of religion. Simple as that.

You loose "WHAT IS" The justification for the Inquisition.

<sheesh>

AGAIN: Ultimately this is not a question of rights, but a question of what is RIGHT, and respect for the country of which you immigrated to for a better life.

So screw the sensitivities, the families loss, our EMS coworkers and multi-nationals that died for the "rights" of a group that has no respect for the feelings of others, with an ultimate goal to build their house of worship within sight of the spineless attack on the economic economic infrastructure of North America ... by a <gasp> radical Muslim group of terrorists.

Just one question JPINFV will you be purchasing and wearing a burka in the near future ... I am looking for a subordinate, do as I say, without question ... new ex wife.

It only matters to people who think that the Koran is alone in seeming to promote violence.

Let's see NY attempt to ban the construction of a church or synagogue then. However, I get the sense that the problem isn't a religious building near ground zero, but the religion said building supports.

Emphasis added for last comment in this quote section.

What is right and a question of rights is the same thing. Is it ever right to violate a citizen's rights? If someone's political speech offend me, do I get the right to go to the government to shut them up? What if it really really really offends me? If a US citizen is really really bad, does Congress earn the ability to pass a bill of retainer against the really really bad person? If rights only exist on the immediate whim of the majority, then what good are rights? Does the majority really need to have their "rights" protected? Does one group of "radical Muslims" now represent all Muslims?

Are you implying that all Muslims are immigrants?

Just one question JPINFV will you be purchasing and wearing a burka in the near future ... I am looking for a subordinate, do as I say, without question ... new ex wife.

First, I lack a second X chromosome. Second, not all Muslim women wear burkas. Third, I'm Catholic, not Muslim. Are you suggesting that you have to be of a group to support the constitutional rights of a group? Do I need to be concerned of my Muslim classmates, especially the ones who wear hijabs, are going to try to kill me? Similarly, should I be concerned that my Jewish classmates, especially the ones who wear yamakas, are going to try to scam me out of money?

Not asking for a ban because one CAN worship in a BARN if one choses, does one really need a symbol of one's religion to worship ? .... hence my point.

What is right and a question of rights is the same thing.

Your kidding Right ? OMG thats the most moronic statement if I have ever been witness .

Is it ever right to violate a citizen's rights?

Is it right to disrespect an entire country and it values and thumb your nose at an atrocity ?

If someone's political speech offend me, do I get the right to go to the government to shut them up?

Yes when it promotes hate, and where are the neo nazi skinheads in this debate when you need them ?

What if it really really really offends me? If a US citizen is really really bad, does Congress earn the ability to pass a bill of retainer against the really really bad person?

HUH your what is legal vs what is right is so screwed up, then again most radical liberals are.

If rights only exist on the immediate whim of the majority, then what good are rights?

Ok so democratic process is wrong, I thought the laws where the will of the majority of the people ?

Does the majority really need to have their "rights" protected? Does one group of "radical Muslims" now represent all Muslims?

Lately ABSOLUTELY, political correctness is totally abused, and used to advocate the whim of a minority based on Christian values of "tolerance" we have become a continent of idiots !

Are you implying that all Muslims are immigrants?

YUP, perhaps you need a history lesson ?

First, I lack a second X chromosome.

And I bet you don't own a gun either ... pity.

Second, not all Muslim women wear burkas.

And against the teachings of the Koran, stone them for they must be adulterous !

Third, I'm Catholic, not Muslim.

OMG then marriage (even though gay marriage is acceptable in my Church) is definatly out of the equation now, and shucks and I was looking for a liberal minded women to wed.

Are you suggesting that you have to be of a group to support the constitutional rights of a group? Do I need to be concerned of my Muslim classmates, especially the ones who wear hijabs, are going to try to kill me?

Perhaps .. are you in the US military and do have a shrink located in Texas ?

Similarly, should I be concerned that my Jewish classmates, especially the ones who wear yamakas, are going to try to scam me out of money ?

Have the radical orthodox Jews attacked the economic infrastructure of North America ? Nope, but they make a heck of a great corned beef on rye know quality diamonds and I would travel a 3000 kms to get to a good deli, besides the fact that Jewish chicks are really hot !

"That definition of "substantial burden" is insufficient. Preventing a church from building a worship site fundamentally inhibits its ability to practice its religion. Churches are central to the religious exercise of most religions. If Cottonwood could not build a church, it could not exist."

Your kidding Right ? OMG thats an moronic statement if ever I saw one .

So the constitution gets suspended at the pleasure of the population? Why have a constitution then, especially one with a bill of rights?

Is it right to disrespect an entire country and it values and thumb your nose at an atrocity?

Who gets to defend what is and is not an atrocity? Where do we end? Do we ban any remotely positive reference to the Confederate States of America? What other atrocity is big enough to limit the rights of citizens? Alternatively, what level is too low to not limit?

Yes when it promotes hate, and where are the neo nazi skinheads in this debate they have rights too ?

Do I need to link National Socialist Party v Skokie again?

HUH your what is legal vs what is right is so screwed up, then again most radical liberals are.

Really? I'm a radical liberal? That's pretty funny actually. When people try to get the government involved, what is legal and what is right is one and the same. I'm not saying people can't or shouldn't protest. However using the government shouldn't be used as a tool of the mob.

Ok so democratic process is wrong I guess ?

The democratic process (which, for the record, we're a republic) has limits. Should I link the US Constitution for you? Those things limited in amendments (of which, the first 10 are called the Bill of Rights for a reason) aren't up for a majority vote for a reason.

Lately ABSOLUTELY, political correctness is totally abused, and used to advocate the whim of a minority based on Christian values of "tolerance"

I didn't realize that the first amendment had to do about tolerance. I thought it had to do with the fact that either something was a right or not, and once infringement of said right begins, there is no stopping it.

YUP, perhaps you need a history lesson ?

If you're pulling the "we're all immigrants" card, sorry, my lineage may include immigrants, but I was born in Fountain Valley, California in 1985. I am not an immigrant. While I'm not Muslim, I do doubt that all Muslims were born outside of the US. Oh, for the record, the Native Americans were immigrants too. Land bridge and all.

And I bet you don't own a gun either ... pity.

My Winchester M1300. Let me show it to you. Also, now that I live near a shotgun range, I actually go shoot trap about once a week (I'll probably start shooting skeet too once my game improves a bit. As a shooter, I'm sure you know the difference between trap, wobble trap, skeet, 5 stand, sporting clays, and other types of shooting sports too, correct?) How often do you go shooting? Also, since when did shooting become the only symbol of a true blooded American man?

And against the teachings of the Koran, stone them for they must be adulterous !

Yea, and I don't eat kosher meals, as prescribed in the Old Testament (which, last time I checked, was still a part of the Catholic bible), your point? Amazingly enough, even members of the same religion, hell, event he same specific faction of a religion, don't all believe in the exact same interpretation of said religion.

OMG then marriage is definatly out of the equation, shucks and I was looking for a liberal minded women to wed.

... err... what now?

Perhaps .. are you in the military and do have a shrink located in Texas ?

Nope, but I didn't realize that terrorists only attacked the military (actually, isn't that kinda of the opposite of a terrorist?).

Have the radical orthodox Jews attacked the economic infrastructure of North America ? Nope, but they make a heck of a great corned beef on rye know quality diamonds and I would travel a 3000 kms to get to a good deli, besides the fact that Jewish chicks are hot !

Depends on which brand of tin foil hat you are. There are definitly conspiracy theories about the Jews attack the economy of the US for personal gain.

Honestly, I dont have a problem with there religion stuff in NY, I guess they have that right, but it should not be allowed at the WTC site, thats pretty messed up.

So is it a right or not? If its a right, then the government can't not allow it for just one religion, just as the government can't not allow political speech from one side of the political spectrum.

Hey, I was just answering the question...book and chapter and all.

Wow. Ruffles, remove the issue at hand and basically you telling these people (paraphrased) Ya'll don't need no more churches I mean mosques, cause there are plenty to choose from already. If you do not like them, then too bad.

Ruff, I can drive down certain streets and see a multitude of churches, many of the same denomination all very, very close to each other. I guess I need to start protesting to prevent these types of situations. I mean after all, if there is one Baptist church in town, why build another???

Does any of that seem ignorant to you? Seriously? People choose different churches for the same reasons people choose different mosques yet you feel it is ok to tell them to find one that is already built or tough cookies. If you have not or do not apply that same hard line/extremist logic to every other church and fight it in your own town, then it is plain ignorant and hypocritical.

But I already know you don't...it would be un-Christian to block any church of the christian faith, regardless of denomination.

Honestly, I dont have a problem with there religion stuff in NY, I guess they have that right, but it should not be allowed at the WTC site, thats pretty messed up.

Good for you Don...you will be happy to know it is 2 blocks away and not at the actual WTC site. Unless you classify the actual site and surrounding sites as the WTC site, but then that is not "the true site".

So go worship in a barn then, no one is stopping you.

This is true I do not need a building to pay my respects to my chosen "God" in which to pray.

"That definition of "substantial burden" is insufficient. Preventing a church from building a worship site fundamentally inhibits its ability to practice its religion. Churches are central to the religious exercise of most religions. If Cottonwood could not build a church, it could not exist."

Cottonwood Christian Center v City of Cypress.

Pretty weak argument that one "needs" a building (they are after all materialistic things) Ever think that you should have been a Lawyer, quoting case law and constitutional issues only and forget about peoples sensitivities to world changing events ?

So the constitution gets suspended at the pleasure of the population? Why have a constitution then, especially one with a bill of rights?

Whose "bill of rights" ? have you missed that I am NOT an American ? - 1 for failing to do your homework.

Ok well you lost me in this circle talk ... are you saying the attack of a Muslum "radical group" on the towers is not an atrocity and 2700 innocent civilians died a horrendous death ?

Do I need to link National Socialist Party v Skokie again?

Do you need to draw attention non respected and legal american legal precedent Nope ! ... Get a grip we are talking values in sensitivity for the MAJORITY ... what part of democracy don't you understand ?

Really? I'm a radical liberal? That's pretty funny actually. When people try to get the government involved, what is legal and what is right is one and the same.

Really ? You are very seriously most delusional, no one reading will believe any thing you say now.

I'm not saying people can't or shouldn't protest. However using the government shouldn't be used as a tool of the mob.

Absolutely NOT, but your President just did !The true elected officials in any democracy are responsible to their constituents, the ones that elected them to represent them and not their personal views, oddly enough Mr Obama has failed in this with the polls clearly indicating that ~ 60% of new yorkers are against this "development".

The democratic process (which, for the record, we're a republic) has limits. Should I link the US Constitution for you? Those things limited in amendments (of which, the first 10 are called the Bill of Rights for a reason) aren't up for a majority vote for a reason.

Once Again: Political correctness is totally abused, used to advocate the whim of a minority based on Christian values of "tolerance"

I didn't realize that the first amendment had to do about tolerance. I thought it had to do with the fact that either something was a right or not, and once infringement of said right begins, there is no stopping it.

Ah your first amendment again ... damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead build as many Minaret's as possible, tax free and with grants / funding by the government (aka Mr. Obama)

Best get used to it now, the UK loves it !

If you're pulling the "we're all immigrants" card, sorry, my lineage may include immigrants, but I was born in Fountain Valley, California in 1985. I am not an immigrant. I hunt to eat and protect myself .... I target shoot to sight in my firearms .

kosher comment: I dont "net" a moose or bear or goose then bleed them either, its far too dangerous.

... err... what now?

Your against Gay marriage too?

Nope, but I didn't realize that terrorists only attacked the military (actually, isn't that kinda of the opposite of a terrorist?).

You quite obviously do not understand, that this MD attacked his own men, very conflicted over his religious beliefs (muslum) and his duty.

Depends on which brand of tin foil hat you are. There are definitly conspiracy theories about the Jews attack the economy of the US for personal gain.

That sound anti semitic to me and isn't that called capitalism ?.
