Burglar leaves his Facebook page on victim’s computer

MARTINSBURG - The popular online social networking site Facebook helped lead to an alleged burglar's arrest after he stopped check his account on the victim's computer, but forgot to log out before leaving the home with two diamond rings.

Jonathan G. Parker, 19, of Fort Loudoun, Pa., was arraigned Tuesday one count of felony daytime burglary.

According to court records, Deputy P.D. Ware of the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department responded on Aug. 28 to the victim's home after she reported the burglary.

She told police that someone had broken into her home through a bedroom window.

There were open cabinets in her garage, and other signs of a burglar.

The victim later noticed that the intruder also used her computer to check his Facebook status, and his account was still open when she checked the computer.

The victim later noticed that she was missing two diamond rings from her dresser in the same room as her computer.

The two rings were worth more than $3,500, reports indicate.

During the investigation, a friend of the victim told her that he knew where Parker was staying, in the same area as the victim's house.

Police then went to the home and spoke with a friend of Parker's.

The man said Parker had stopped by his home occasionally, but he said the man didn't live there.

He also said that the night before the burglary, Parker asked him if he wanted to help break into the victim's home but he refused.

As of Tuesday evening, Parker remained in custody at the Eastern Regional Jail on $10,000 bail.

If convicted he faces one to 10 years in prison.1

Woman arrested after theft of ambulance

DEL CITY, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a woman looking for her ex-boyfriend stole an ambulance and led troopers on a 50-mile chase from Shawnee to Del City.

Troopers say 28-year-old Mindy Jones was at the hospital for a blood test after she was arrested following for driving under the influence and hit-and-run. Officers say she ran from the hospital and drove away in the ambulance about 2:30 a.m. Friday.

She was spotted in Interstate 40 and troopers followed her to a home in Del City where she stopped in the yard and was arrested.

While in handcuffs Jones told television station KOCO she "had the ambulance and had a pretty good time driving" it.

Jones was taken to the Oklahoma County jail. Records do not indicate whether she has yet hired an attorney.2

Teen accused of climbing into the back of Haverhill ATM

HAVERHILL — An 18-year-old local man was caught red-handed yesterday, said police, who found him inside an ATM he had broken into in the Bank of America lobby at Washington Square.

David Haskell, of 101 Laurel Ave., cut a hole in the drywall above the ATM, climbed into the back of the machine, and was attempting to steal money from it when an alarm sounded, alerting police that something was amiss at the 191 Merrimack St. location, police said.

"We answer so many alarms that turn out to be false, it's easy to get lulled into a sense of security," said Lt. Joseph Florent. "When you do find somebody inside a building, it's surprising."

The alarm came in about 5:45 a.m., and an arrest was made shortly afterward.

Haskell has been charged with breaking and entering, malicious damage, larceny, and possession of a class E drug (prescription medication).

Florent said the patrolmen responded to the alarm and when they entered the lobby where the ATM is located, they noticed the hole in the drywall above it and then heard noise behind the wall. They climbed up to look in the hole and realized someone was inside.

"He broke through the top of it and got into the back," said Florent, adding that it doesn't appear that Haskell was able to get his hands on any cash.

"At one point, he popped his head up," Florent said, adding that once he realized he had been discovered, Haskell gave up easily and was arrested without incident.

The bank manager and security officials were called in to secure the scene.3

German arrested after snorting drugs off police car

A nightclub reveller was detained by German police after they caught trying to snort amphetamines off the top of their unmarked patrol car.

Published: 1:58PM GMT 02 Mar 2010

The 26-year-old was lining up the powdered drugs on the roof of the car in a disco car park, when the two police officers surprised him, a Nuremberg police spokesman said on Tuesday.

The man had no idea the vehicle belonged to the police, and it was coincidence that the officers - who were walking by their parked car - discovered him just as he was about to take the drugs.

"He's got horrible luck," said Bert Rauenbusch, police spokesman in the southern German city. 4

When you're awarded "Honorable Mention", that just means you have to try harder next year to at least get "Third Runner Up"!

Some people are just too stupid to make it as criminals. Now that's sad. There was a guy here several years ago that robbed a 7-11 wearing his workshirt. It displayed his name and the apartment complex he worked out.

There was an article on MSN, about two women who had a feud going on through facebook over some locked up convict.

Woman A spotted the car where her rival was a passenger and began to chase said vehicle, reaching speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour.

The driver of the car being chased knew about the feud, but wasn't involved in it. Because she was being chased, she (the driver of the car being chased) ran a stoplight and slammed into a dump truck. The driver was killed instantly.

Woman A (the one doing the chasing) was found to have had her 3 year old daughter in the back seat of the car during the chase.

Woman charged in Facebook-feud fatal crash

Rivals for affection of prison inmate were involved in high-speed chase

by David N. Goodman

PONTIAC, Mich. — A Facebook feud between two women who claimed to love the same prison inmate led to a high-speed chase and a crash that critically injured one of the rivals, killed her friend and left the second rival facing murder charges.

Torrie Emery was arraigned Friday in Pontiac's 50th District Court on multiple felonies, as friends of the dead woman were holding a car wash to pay for her funeral.

"It's unbelievable," Pontiac police Chief Valard S. Gross told The Associated Press as he described the escalating dispute that ended with Wednesday's deadly crash. "It's just crazy."

According to Gross, Emery, 23, and Danielle Booth, 20, had been feuding for some time, leading to an earlier police complaint. According to Emery's family, the dispute was over a 23-year-old man now serving time in a Michigan prison.

On Wednesday, Emery was driving when she saw Booth in the passenger seat of a car driven by Alesha Abernathy and started chasing her, Gross said. Emery had her 3-year-old daughter in the car with her.

Police Det. Paul McDougal, who was in an unmarked squad car, saw both vehicles rush by at speeds approaching 100 mph, Gross said. Before McDougal could reach them — and while a panicked Booth was on the phone with a police dispatcher — Abernathy ran a red light and plowed into a dump truck, knocking it onto its side but not injuring the truck's driver.

The crash killed Abernathy and critically injured Booth, who was in the intensive care unit Friday at POH Regional Medical Center in Pontiac. Emery and her daughter weren't hurt.

How can you get that angry or that jealous, really, that you jeopardize the life of your 3-year-old?" Gross asked. "One person's stupidity, and look at the repercussions. It's just a ripple effect."

Emery appeared on video at her arraignment Friday on charges of second-degree murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm and child abuse. She indicated she would look for a lawyer.

Judge Preston Thomas ordered her jailed without bond and set her preliminary examination for next Thursday.

"We apologize to the family about what happened," Emery's aunt, Tamika White, said after the hearing. "This Facebook stuff is just a mess. They're going on Facebook about a guy that neither one have — that's in the penitentiary."

"My sister didn't mean to kill anybody," said Traynea Emery, 19.

Across town in the parking lot of Pete's Coney Island restaurant, a group of Abernathy's friends were holding a car wash to raise money for the funeral they said Abernathy's family couldn't afford.

"She was the center of attention," said Brittany Carriti, 22, of Pontiac, a former classmate from Manley Alternative High School in Waterford. She and her friends had raised several hundred dollars by midday.

Abernathy was "always the one for whom the party started," said another ex-classmate, Chandra Tiernan, 23, of Waterford.

While Abernathy knew about the dispute between Booth and Emery, she wasn't involved in it, Tiernan said.

"She died over someone else's problem," Tiernan said.1

I negated the positive on jeepluv77's posting not because I object to anything on the posting. I did it because on an educational and professional EMS site, I have a real problem with people earning reputation posts for funny stuff. Just a personal pet peeve and I truly hope it is not taken personally.

PS.. my other pet peeve is people who negate and run.. thus the explanation.
