Consider this. Our education system sucks. I would bet that this kid has never had anyone critique him or give him constructive criticism?

I know that I didn't get that during my period of high school years except from one or two teachers.

I would bet that having to act like an adult is a foreign term to this kid.

Best thing to do is this, sit him down with your paramedic partner and discuss the document from Kevkei and tell him that you are not the bad guy but you are the guy he has been paired with to be evaluated.

This is more than likely a foreign concept to him and laying the ground rules for him now instead of 4 more shifts down the road can make or break this kid and his survival on the squad.

If he still insists on not coming to you then assign him to someone else and if he still insists on not following the new preceptor or he doesn't go to the preceptor and goes to that preceptors partner then maybe it's time to cut him loose and put him back into the general population of people who have been told that they don't qualify.

He might eventually be the best medic/emt that God ever put out there, but then again maybe not.

Not tryin to be so harsh but this is an adult career and if he wants to play or work with the adults he has to get over his mamby pamby attitude.
