Hello.

I am Johnathan Williamson,EMT-Basic and 16 y/o.

After High School, I plan to attend FSU with a major in Tropical Meteorology.

I also Plan on becoming a Paramedic and joining FSU's Student EMS.

just curious....what state are you in that allows 16 year olds to become EMT's?

here in NY you have to be 18 to sit for the test.

Welcome.

There are several states that allow EMT's to become certified at 16. Maryland and Pennsylvania are among them. Although they are EMT's, they are not allowed to be primary providers until they are 18 in either state. Unless you find a company willing to break the rules, which isn't very hard, especially in PA.

If running as a 16 year old EMT is allowed in your state (any state so allowing the practice), is it only as a 3rd, with an 18 Y/O+ EMT supervising? For this scenario, I am excluding the EMT driving, as they're up front, and the 16 Y/O would otherwise be alone with a patient in the back.

Here, I have an adult in the back supervising my actions.
