Here is a link with a description of the course. Unfortunately, it doesn't offer to much information.

actually Texas does have a firefighter 1and 2 but when it comes to being a Texas commissioned Firefighter in only certs as a Basic Fire Fighter . But if you have your IFSAC seals you might be able to transfer them over your best bet would be to contact FL and see what they require.

Due to my current knowledge of "Hands On", even from an EMS viewpoint, I don't believe in "On-Line" classes for either EMS or Fire, until one is already completed a "classroom didactic and 'lab'" class. Both FDNY and FDNY EMS have some "in house" "on line" mandatory classes, but most of that is for refresher or updates, and it is INTRAnet, not INTERnet. Also, EMTs, Paramedics, and Fire Fighters in FDNY have to return to the Academy for regularly scheduled classes. Don't take the class, and one risks suspension

Richard B, the training academy in question requires over 126+ contact hours in order to even meet the requirements to sit the final and state exams. I respectfully disagree with you that one must complete a "classroom didactic and labs before one attempts an online course. Yes online requires more dicipline than a literal class as you'll be in Fire academy or paramedic class mode for two years pecking on the class work.

In any event whether EMTB EMTP or Fire Academy you still have to prove yourself through the same written and practical examinations to get certified as the regular "sitting in a class student". Theres no difference. The only problem I have seen is certain States who want you to sit in a class. The reality is that times are changing, people are busy and its hard to quit a job especially taking care of a family to sit in a class.I sat in a class so I know the feeling. Everything else in life stops. One time ago people including various States were up in arms about online RN programs. That has since changed and so many paramedics are going with this option and becoming RN's. At the end of the day the have to prove themselves or they dont get their RN certs.

Online is a viable option!
