crotchitymedic1986 Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Ok, just trying to lighten the mood abit, if anyone is offended by this topic, I do apologize, but I really do wonder about this. I was watching an episode of Andy Griffith today, it was the episode where they got an unexpected female prisoner who happened to be very attractive. There was a sexual tension in the air between Andy, Barney and her, when she laid on the prison bed and her leg showed from the knee down (gasp), then in what must have been one of the most sexual scenes on TV in the 50s, they hung a sheet across her cell to give her some privacy and she changed for bed. The light from her cell lit her sillouette, as Barney and Andy watched her take her top off (like the episode of seinfeld when george is in the hospital with his mom, and the woman in the next bed gets a sponge bath). I am not sure if you call it progress, but obviously we see alot more of the female body on tv and in the movies today. It is not uncommon to see almost full nudity of some female at some point in any movie, whether it adds to the plot or not. With that being said, some 60 years later, women do not get to see full frontal nudity on the male form, unless they rent or buy porn. Why is there such hypocracy ? Shouldn't women be allowed to see nude men in movies ? Then the next question, do you women want to see nude men in movies ? Does the hypocracy bother you at all, in the age of women's rights ? We have no problem showing a person being beheaded or set on fire, but god forbid we show a penis or the world will fall apart !
DwayneEMTP Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I don't think that there is any type of rule against it, as I've seen it. It just doesn't seem to be done for some reason. Penis envy, maybe? Not sure. I wish we'd get to having full, classy nudity of both sexes on television, on Saturday morning cartoons! Then perhaps we'd stop freaking out over it and we could curb some of the sexual deviancy that the world suffers from.... Cool topic man.. Dwayne
scubanurse Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Why is there such hypocracy ? I don't know but it sucks! Shouldn't women be allowed to see nude men in movies ? YES Then the next question, do you women want to see nude men in movies ? YES Does the hypocracy bother you at all, in the age of women's rights ? A little bit We have no problem showing a person being beheaded or set on fire, but god forbid we show a penis or the world will fall apart ! Men typically direct and produce the movies so they want to see women naked not men...IMO.
HERBIE1 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Obviously the notion of standards has changed over the years. As noted, what was considered risque back in the 50's is now quaint, and barely PG. I think the disparity of female vs male nudity is a gender bias, but think about classic art. The female body has always been considered to be a form of natural beauty. I agree that for the most part, men do control movies and TV shows, so the inclination would seem to be to favor nudity of women vs men. That said, making movies or TV shows is all about money, and if there was a "demand" for more male nudity, it would happen. I simply think the naked female form is more acceptable, and more aesthetically pleasing to most people- even many women. I would also argue that because of the differences in what men and women find arousing and erotic, men are more visual, vs the more cerebral/emotional likes of women. Think pornography here. The vast majority of women are not really aroused by porn to the extent that men are. I've had this conversation with staunchly heterosexual women who say that given a choice between the 2, they would much prefer seeing female nudity vs that of a man. Women can appreciate a beautiful figure of someone of their own sex much more readily than a man.
Happiness Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Im not to sure how it works in the States but lets use male strippers as an example. In the states I think (not sure)that full nudity is bad, but in Canada you can take it all off. As the show goes on it is not the final act of taking it off that is the satisfing part but the actual show leading up to it. I use to manage a local bar here and we did the stripper shows a few times a year and I have to say they are not always what you see is what is actually theirs. So to the next point if you are an actress and you are going to do a nude sceene you as a female have the oportunity to have a boob job and tucks here and there to make yourself look perfect. Men do not have that luxury they have what god gave them and they are pretty much stuck with it. Personaly I would much rather see a nice butt over a full frontal.
Richard B the EMT Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 There is a scene in "Hall Pass" with 2 full frontal nude men, but it was integral to the script.
DwayneEMTP Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Oh please, Kate!! It's impossible to feel sorry for any woman complaining about the lack of male nudity when you can simply walk into any bar and say, "Would someone get naked for me??" And have 50 swinging dicks flopping all over the bar...At least that's what P-Mike tells me.... Besides..I've never gotten the whole naked man thing,,,I think that they should be outlawed in the interest of world beautification. Just sayin'... Dwayne Note to Crotchty. You mentioned making things lighter and my post is in that spirit. If it was in fact your intention to have an honest intellectual discussion on this topic then I truly apologize and will stop trying to be funny...which...as we all know...isn't really one of my strong suits. Just sayin'.
crotchitymedic1986 Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 1. I am not sure that women would get their way if they wanted to. I dont think the country is ready for that.
scubanurse Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Why would I want to go to a bar to see that instead of the privacy of my house?? Plus that would be embarrassing!
DwayneEMTP Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Why would I want to go to a bar to see that instead of the privacy of my house?? Plus that would be embarrassing! Why then is full frontal nudity in movies and/or tv better than just downloading a bunch of dangles on the internet? Dwayne
