We've all felt the same things from time to time when inter-facility transports start this way, but it's easy to forget that lab coat or bunker coat, we're all playing for the same team and all need to try to make such interactions as smooth and painless as possible so inter-agency relations can be strong and professional. . . that being said, I think the video was mostly harmless, and firing was extreme. . . I can see a short reprimand suspension and a letter of apology or some such thing. . . I do agree though that using an actual doctor's name is a bad idea, and perhaps a little more tact could have been used. . .

Didn't this happen like two years ago? This is way old news, except for the rejection of his appeal. There are at least two previous threads about it.

I agree with the firing. Being off duty has never been an acceptable excuse for conduct bringing discredit on the organisation.

I think the key to this is in the last line of the news report. I read it as meaning this is the tip of the iceberg. The guy has had problems in the past. I have found that if you have a good work ethic, are committed to your profession and your employer, and generally do not make a pain in the ass of yourself, a misstep will not get you fired. If on the other hand, you are in conflict with your organization, colleagues, on a regular basis, then when they finally get one good enough, you are fired. The official reason gives the firee a lot of opportunities to whine to his/her friends over beer.

Agreed. Plus the video had racist overtones, which almost always results in the death penalty, whether you are right or wrong.

I must be looking at this from the wrong angle, but im struggling to see the big issue here.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
