Sorry.. No, not right.. VE Day is Victory in Europe; May 8th, 1945. Members of my bloodline were killed in the war in Europe. That's their day, nearly 418K troops died in WWII, they deserve to keep that title.

What is happening now, is just one step closer to the peace and freedom to feel safe on our home soil, once again. While that may be a long way off. We may never have our innocence back; I think that a big slice of justice has been served to those who died on 9/11, and for those have to suffer everyday, because of what happened on that date in history.

Perhaps Victory Toward Everlasting Freedom

Victory Europe day?

Wait a minute, the war on terror was against one person? So terrorism is no more? Awesome, pack everything up then.

...except that I'm agreeing that this is, in no way, comparable to VE day. Nor is it comparable to VJ day either (need me to spell that one out for you?).

...except copypasta'ing a URL does not honor everyone.

...except believing that the War on Terror is only about one man, and that now that he is gone peace will reign does absolutely nothing to honor anyone. In fact, it's more of a slap in the face to anyone who fought terrorism, and especially anyone who fights terrorism past today. Sorry, I'm not buying that terrorism is now magically gone now. Al Qaeda may be weakened, heck it may even be the beginning of the end with how the power vacuum plays out, however terrorism is not limited only to al Qaeda.

Geez sorry about the VE Day reference I appologize to those offended parties.

I made the connection only because of all the jubilation in the streets across the nation the same way it was on VE Day. I had flashes of old time newspaper photos of that day.

Again sorry.

BTW lets not derail a thread ment to honor our fallen brothers and sisters. BTW I am still getting all the names together, for some reason everytime I try and post them the forum says the file is too large. I am attempting to make something as a link.

Again sorry.

Due to the fact the list is super long and would take multiple posts I have decided to just link the list.

This is from a 9/11 website and has a very nice list with profiles and photos of the victims and is broken down very nicely. One note is the memebers of the FDNY, PAPD, EMS are listed just under the names of the WTC victims and not seperately.

I wasn't 'offended', I was just sharing my opinion. I do agree, for the victims, their families, the rescuers. It was a victorious day. The war against domestic and foreign terrorism, however, will not end during my lifetime. I'm not being negative, I'm being open minded.
