My name is Steven and I'm a newly nationally certified EMT-B hailing from Hartford, CT. While I don't have a job in EMS at the moment, I'm hoping that with my certification and knowledge of EMS practices that will change. I'm looking forward to socializing with you all and learning a thing or two about what life is like as a practicing EMT.

I just signed up today to this site. I have been in EMS for awhile. Seems like forever somedays! Good luck with your job search. It can be a fun and personally rewarding field. Yet I often find myself exhausted and burnt out. Please feel free to give a shout if you need anything answered or you just feel like venting. I don't know everything, but I'd try to get an answer for you. Congratulations on your Nationals!

I am a From CT also good luck on your job search. There are several paid services in your area. A good base to start with is a volunteer service to get some experience and it will get you some good connections for references to get a job.

I have been in EMS for 22yrs in CT. 20 of those paid, last 12 as a medic working as a supervisor for a large service.

EMS can be rewarding but pay can sometimes be low as a new EMT. Stick it out, work hard, don't be a slapper (a know it all, saw it all). Be humble, quiet, learn, and stay out if the EMS rumor mills that seem to plague most EMS services and you should fit in just fine.
