MetalMedic Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Hey everyone! Sorry I've been MIA, as of May I've become unemployed and spent a lot of time searching for work either in EMS or anything I can get. While I've been out of work, I've been hitting as many CE's as possible. Earlier this week I went and watched a Cardiac Cath Lab at the Hospital. Not sure if anyone has ever been to one, but I got a chance to see a CTO (Double cath). Has anyone else done one of these? What were your thoughts? I'd love to get a discussion going on this (I just don't want to spew and monopolize first!) -MetalMedic
paramedicmike Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Has anyone ever done one of what? A cath procedure? No. I've never cardiac cath-ed someone. I have, however, been to the cath lab on several occasions. It was a good experience and I learned a ton from each visit.
JakeEMTP Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 I've been to the Cath lab several times since becoming a Paramedic. We always ask if we can stay and have never been refused. The last one they did was through the right wrist. That was a first for me. Part of my clinical rotations for Paramedic classes was some time in the Cath lab and found it to be an interesting experience.
