tcripp Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Any of my fellow posters being affected by the fires?
Richard B the EMT Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 I was SO sure that Hurricane/Tropical Storm/Tropical Depression Lee was going to throw some serious water onto the Great State of Texas, relieving the drought, let alone drowning some of the fires. I truely am sorry I was incorrect.
DwayneEMTP Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 How are you faring with the fires girl? I was thinking of you the other day and hoping you were fire free... Dwayne
DFIB Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 I was coming back from a clinical shift and drove past the fire in Montgomery about 11:00 pm. Some cows had broken fence and were grazing by the highway. I called 911 to advise that cows were loose and might cause an accident. After giving the location the dispatcher asked me "Sir, are you sure they are cows" I wanted to say something smart like "No, they are aliens with horns" But instead just said "affirmative". That is as close as I got to the fire.
tcripp Posted September 10, 2011 Author Posted September 10, 2011 Dwayne, we are hanging in there. Thanks for asking. Last night made for a fun call. We had an AMS pt that we decided needed a larger hospital for skills our local hospital couldn't handle (no ICU). We had to detour around the fires to make that happen. Took nearly 6 hours from tone to bed and that didn't include the report writing. Yes, both fun AND exciting! Grady, I keep thinking if we could herd the loose cattle in to the fires, then we could have the outdoor BBQs after all. ha ha The surrounding counties have banned smoking outdoors, BBQing, and welding.
DFIB Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 We could herd the cows into the fire and tell FEMA where the BBQ is at. :0
