Hello!

I'm a new EMT-B student and so far find it very interesting and stimulating. I recently graduated with a master's degree in Geography, having focused my research on natural hazards and their impacts. Long term I want a career in emergency management. I've had a hard time in the past few months finding gainful employment in the field so I decided becoming an EMT would be a good way to get my foot in the door and learn how the system works. I've been told there is a lack of research taking place within EMS and I hope that at some point I could help fill that gap. In the meantime I am enjoying learning a new skill. Some people tell me I'm nuts for taking an EMT course after having gotten a master's degree, but I'm thinking about my long term goals, and I think this is a good way to get there. Any thoughts?

I like this site a lot and have been finding it very helpful!
