Just curious does anyone know where in the car a pregnant woman is safest?

Front Seat?

Rear seat with lap and shoulder belt?

Rear middle seat with just lap belt?

I've been curious as to the best place but my questions to others off this list have not been good ones.

Thanks

ps - even my wifes doctor didn't really have a good answer.

I always thought the safest place for them was in the kitchen, but I could be wrong.

Pregnant women should never use just a lap belt (neither should anyone else but that is another story). The lap part should go under the belly and the shoulder harness should go above it. As they get closer to 40 weeks, if they are driving there is a bigger chance of being injured by the steering wheel and/or airbag because their abdomen sits closer to it.

Depends on whether you drive a silly little smart car or like me a 1 ton 15 passenger Ford van.

If it's the smart car stay home, in my van row 2 center sear with both belts used, in a normal passenger car , the back seat to stay away from the airbags.

I was thinking of putting my wife in the middle of the car with a steel cage surrounding the car and a 12 point restraint system but since that would be too expensive of a car I'll go with middle seat back seat with lap and shoulder belts in our mid-size SUV.

I only have a couple of weeks to go with our current pregnancy so the less she drives the better.
